Dolly & Dotty Plus Size Vintage Fashion
If you haven’t come across Dolly & Dotty before, they’re a UK-based fashion brand known for their fun, and exciting take on 1950s-inspired vintage style. Think classic swing dresses, wiggle dresses, quirky prints, and super defining shapes that celebrate curves. I love how they have so many retro designs, but also ones with a more modern twist too that works for all occasions.

Their sizing starts at a size UK 8 to 26 and I find that most pieces have been true to size. Obviously depending on your shape, you might need to size up with the more fitting designs. I’ve found their pieces to be really comfortable and really well made for the price. Speaking of which, affordability is one of their biggest strengths. In a world where plus size fashion prices are often getting a bit ridiculous, Dolly & Dotty keep things reasonable without compromising on style or quality. It’s a breath of fresh air!
I first wrote about them on this blog back in 2016, and over the years I’ve had the odd piece from them pop into my wardrobe. Every time, I’ve been reminded just how much I enjoy wearing their clothes. I’ve always loved vintage style fashion, and their prints are always so beautiful and bold. There’s something really joyful about a Dolly & Dotty dress. They know how to make a statement piece that still feels wearable for all occasions.
So when they recently got in touch and asked if I’d like to try something new, I was already interested. But then I saw the Dolly & Dotty Isla Maxi Wrap Dress in Cheetah Jungle Print, I genuinely gasped. It was love at first sight. The print is absolutely stunning. It’s colourful, fun, and totally my style. Animal print with a twist? Yes please. It’s one of those dresses that instantly lifts your mood and makes you feel good the second you put it on.
The best part, it’s only £35! With how plus size fashion prices have been climbing lately, I honestly think this is incredible value. Some brands are charging double that for something far less special, and it’s frustrating to feel priced out just because you wear a larger size. So to see something this gorgeous at a price point that actually feels fair? I really appreciate that.
Let’s talk about the fit, because it’s equally impressive. The Isla is a full wrap dress, not just a wrap-style top with a stitched skirt. It fastens securely on the inside and then ties again around the back, so you can adjust it to suit your shape. I felt really secure and comfortable in it, and the fabric sits beautifully and it’s a really comfortable to wear dress. Even when sitting down, which is something I always look out for with being an ambulatory wheelchair user.
I’ve had wrap dresses in the past where I’ve felt like I had to constantly check if everything was still covered. You know the ones, where one wrong move and you’re flashing the neighbours. This isn’t like that. There’s loads of fabric, and I felt properly covered the whole time.
I picked it in a size 20 and the fit is absolutely spot on. It feels true to size, and because it’s adjustable, it gives you a bit of room to move too. The length is great for a maxi, and it’s one of those pieces that you could easily dress up or down depending on where you’re off to.
All in all, I’m really impressed. The Isla Maxi Wrap Dress has become a new favourite in my wardrobe, and I’m already eyeing up a few more prints.
Let me know if you’ve tried Dolly & Dotty before, or if you’re tempted to now?
