Some people are blessed with bouncy, voluminous hair, and then some people just can’t do anything to get a little lift. The Grogan Household have been using quite a few products lately that are great for adding volume for people with thinner, flatter hair and here’s what we thought to them….

Wash & Treat

Roots

Roots Sensitive Care Shampoo (£9.99) is a 2in1 shampoo that not only helps stimulate the hair follicles to produce more hair, but it also stops any irritation on the scalp too. Hence the name, roots! It’s all about them. You really want to be stimulating with a good scalp massage every time you wash your hair. The Roots Extreme Clean Shampoo (£9.99) works by making sure your scalp is deeply cleansed of any build up or residue that may be blocking your hair follicles. With any kind of ranges like this, it is best to use other products from that range to get the best effects. Although you do want to stimulate your roots as it’s great for adding volume, you don’t want to miss out on moisture which is why I’ve also added the below brand in this guide.

72 Hair

Mix up your hair with stimulating root products, and with moisturising shampoos and conditioners to make sure that you’re getting the best of both worlds. The Intense Moisture Shampoo (£14.99) from 72Hair is amazing for restoring moisture to your hair and adding a real shine. It’s a very lightweight formula that’s friendly on dyed hair too. It also has a matching Hydrating Conditioner (£14.99) which is heavenly. This is designed to protect against UVA damage and to make your hair a lot softer. Of course if you have thinner hair, you only need to be using a little of each and not every time you wash your hair. It’s important to keep your hair moisturised and in good condition so that it’s more manageable overall.

Macadamia

Macadamia also have a Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner. I found that I personally needed a lot of shampoo to get a good lather, but Alfie really enjoyed these on his shorter hair and noticed that they were adding volume. They don’t weight down your hair at all and are fine to use on chemically treated hair. Although they do contain Macadamia Oil they don’t add too much moisture to your hair at all, instead it’s just about the right amount. The conditioner was really lovely to use and it has Hydrolyzed Soy Protein to smooth and soften your hair even more.

Blow Dry

Roots also has a highly concentrated Roots Intensive Spray (£14.99) that works as a leave in formula to stimulate the scalp and reduce hair loss. Sprays like this are a really good idea for some extra help, stimulation and adding volume, they work when they’re massaged into the scalp and left to do their job. You can apply this up to twice a day on either wet or dry hair, I do prefer wet hair as then I can blow dry it with some other products.

My favourite being the Power Dry. ME from Design.ME, this is such an incredible drying spray! The first time I used this I was beyond impressed, not only make my drying time a lot faster, but my hair looked amazing. I’ve been using it every single time I do my hair now. It really helps my frizz under control and it has UV protection too. I am loving everything from Design.ME especially their Puff powder sprays, I have both the original and the light version too and I like them both just as much. You simply just spray it onto your roots and puff your hair! I’ve also just got the Moisturising Mist which is a leave-in treatment mist. It detangles, smoothes, and moisturises all in one. I really adore the smell of it, it’s nothing too strong but it does have that almost salon professional smell?
