Spring Plus Size Fashion

With being a full-time blogger, I can’t say I’ve spent much on clothes these past few years. It’s been a huge perk and combined with me not being able to go out much because of my chronic pain, I’ve not really needed many either. This year I’ve been feeling spendy and I’ve picked up so many clothes already! I thought I would show you all what I’ve picked up, how it fits, give you the links if they’re still available.

I had an extremely bad January with my PIP Tribunal and the sheer stress of it, so my year started off with a Spa trip in February. I wore a stunning Lady Volup Lyra in this geometric and floral print, it was a Christmas present that I obviously picked out because I adore it! I am obsessed with Lyras, I own several, both bought and gifted from the brand. I wear a 22/24 and it’s a perfect fit. Usually, these are more Summery dresses so I wore mine with my favourite Navabi Coat from a few seasons back (it was gifted), and extremely old leggings to make sure I was warmer.

Whilst at the Spa I took the latest skirt from the Arched Eyebrow x Navabi Collection out for the evening, this was kindly gifted. I had so many compliments on it! I love how it flares and it has pockets too, which I don’t need to say how useful those are. At just £64 it’s only in stock in two sizes so be quick if you like it! I’m wearing a size 24. I seem to have a real style issue with wearing any other top but this lace v-neck ASOS one. I have actually bought 3 of them because it’s just my go-to for any skirt. I made it look a little fancier with the Elomi Leopard Print Bra (gifted) that you’ve no doubt seen everywhere, but you can’t see it too much on this photo.

Finishing off our Spa trip by snapping a quick photo in this Joanna Hope Dress that I’ve had sat in my wardrobe since July! I convinced myself that I didn’t like it, and was waiting until I was fully done up to try it on. Safe to say I’m surprised! This is a size 24 and it’s amazing. Still available at Marisota, I wanted to post is as Joanna Hope is often modelled on thin women, not even plus size, but the clothes can be really stunning. The sizing is all over the place though so it’s worth trying a few different sizes to get the best fit. Studio 8 sent me a surprise dress and honestly, I wasn’t expecting to like it but oh wow! This maxi is so stunning. Studio 8 is a little out of my price range especially as I never get the full wear out of anything, but it’s a real treat to be in a higher end dress. You can really tell with the quality. This is a true size 24, extremely comfortable and I already can’t wait to wear it again! If I was ever going to a fancy event or wedding, Studio 8 would be the first place I look.

Newlook has a really bad reputation lately. Their Curve Collection is quite honestly abysmal. They’ve taken it out of shops and they really don’t seem to ever do anything with it. I had a look one afternoon and pages and pages in (seriously I had to LOOK) I found some things that I thought could work. To my utter surprise we kept almost everything that we ordered, some leggings went back and shoes. I ordered dresses for mum, a dress for me, skirts for me, and it’s all really great. This Animal Print Maxi is so gorgeous, and a dream to wear. I’m 5’3 and it is a truly maxi length on me, but a bit too long for my mum. I’m wearing a size 24 and so is my mum, here’s a few other things we picked up.

Grey Snake Print Wrap Midi Dress (that my mum looks amazing in!), and I’m wearing the leopard print pleated skirt.

When I saw this Green Trench Coat on George at Asda, I gasped and immediately ordered. It is so beautiful! It’s now available in a Yellow (it says Lime but I’m really hoping it’s mustard) and an Orange. I’m wearing a 24 and it’s a good fit, it will fasten but arm movement might be restricted. In this photo, I’m also wearing the new Chaffree Leggings (gifted) which are seriously impressive. At an eye-watering price, you’d expect them to be, but they seriously feel like a second skin. I’m the biggest size in these which is a 24-26 and I wear a standard length, my mum wears the 24-26 in a short length and they’re perfect on her. Although these feel like ski pants and are seriously small when they arrive, they stretch and fit so comfortably. I normally overheat in leggings but these didn’t make me hotter at all, my mum said the same. With them being COOLMAX (the same material as Chaffree anti-chafing underwear) they wash and dry so easily too. They’re definitely worth a try and I’ve got a discount code of ‘Travel15’ for 15% off!

We’re down to the last three! Another Joanna Hope purchase first, I really was not going to spend £60 on a jacket but I love a longline. I spotted it first and then mum said how nice it was, so I only ordered to have a look and see if it was really that nice. It’s now in my wardrobe, safely hidden from mum! I’m wearing a 24 and it’s a good fit, you definitely wouldn’t size up, but you also don’t have 100% arm movement, more like 95%. The dress is my favourite black pleated midi from ASOS, this is my second and I bought it in a 24 this time rather than a 22. There’s just more material so it’s longer and higher on me, making it more comfortable for my wheelchair. It’s not in stock but keep your eye out for similar things.

Next up is this stunning yellow mustard wrap maxi dress. It is completely see-through and I actually bought it as I thought it’d be perfect on holiday but I couldn’t wait. I’m wearing my anti-chafing pants from Chaffree (bought years ago) underneath which you can quite clearly see as I didn’t have any nudes, to be honest, I don’t really mind and this helped whenever the wind blew the side split a little too open. This is a size 24 and it’s a perfect fit.

Last but not least, I picked up this black pleated maxi skirt from Simply Be a few weeks ago as I just knew I’d find something to wear with it. I’m wearing a size 24 and it’s really comfortable. When I saw this leopard print body from Boohoo I just knew they were meant to be! Boohoo is great for body tops but they will never fit as bodys. As long as you know that going in and make sure you get a good discount, seeing as you’re going to have to cut off the dangling part, then they have great tops. It’s only left in a 24 which is what I’m wearing, the arms a tiny bit tight when rolled up but I’m hoping they’ll stretch. (Mum is wearing River Island in the photo.).
