Race Day Fashion Tips Featuring Suit Direct
There’s nothing better than spending a sunny day at the races. I’ve been to three different race day events in two cities and experienced what the each tiers have to offer in terms of hospitality and views. I’m personally a sit down to drink and eat type of girl and therefore I love being in the VIP boxes in the restaurant. We’ve also had standard tickets where you get to roam around and stand right next to the course. I’ve noticed that although everyone is dressed up, there’s certainly a difference in fashion when it comes to the different tiers. My dad and I came up with these race day fashion tips for men attending a day at the races this year.
Standard
When you’re in standard you have the freedom to move around a lot, between the different bars, and to go see the horses up close amongst other things. Of course a suit is still the dress code, but you don’t have to be as formal. Take the suit my dad is wearing for example. This is the Limehaus Grey Texture Skinny Fit Two Piece at £93 (reduced from £199), it’s a perfect suit to be able to wear to any of the tiers, with just little adjustments. In the standard tier I’d say you could definitely get away with a plain t-shirt with this suit, and less dressy shoes. Definitely not trainers, but they don’t have to be as fancy as these.
County Stands
When it comes to the country stands and VIP, this Suit Direct two piece would be perfect! The shoes are from Jake Shoes and they’re the Paolo Vandini Mens Naughton Tweed Brogues In Tan at £79.99, they’re one of the nicest pairs of brogues I’ve ever seen and my dad is basically in love with them. You want to make sure you’re dressy in the county stands but you don’t have to be completely formal, a simple shirt underneath your suit is more than enough, this is just an old shirt that my dad has that goes shockingly well with the suit.
VIP
You want to be as formal as possible when it comes to the VIP boxes. Which includes a suit that fits as well as this Limehaus does on my dad. He’s wearing his usual sizes and both the jacket and trousers are a perfect fit, down to the arm and leg length. To say it’s the first time we’ve tried Suit Direct and the first sizes we ordered, it’s a perfect fit! My dad and I think the best way to dress this suit up further would to have a more expensive shirt on, an extremely stylish tie, and probably a pocket square. Other than that you’d be looking at a top hat and cane, which wouldn’t actually look out of place at somewhere as fancy as the VIP section at a race day.
