Odeon Luxe Sheffield – Is It Worth Visiting?
Everyone in Sheffield knows that the Odeon has needed an upgrade for probably the past 10 years. I’m so pleased to say that it is finally here and it has seriously exceeded all expectations. The Odeon Luxe Sheffield really does offer a new experience of going to the cinema. The lobby has been transformed into somewhere you’d happily sit and have a drink, a great date night setting. There’s a new fancy bar with a huge selection of wines, spirits, and beers, as well as plenty of hot food options, and the usual cinema snacks. The lobby also has a coffee machine and Coca Cola Freestyle Machines where you can customise your drinks to be whatever flavours you want, it’s quite impressive with over 100 drink choices, providing countless combinations.
I do love a fancy photo backdrop, granted it wasn’t as fancy as photography backdrops from foxbackdrop.
The Odeon Luxe Sheffield is completely accessible, although I haven’t figured out the best door for the easiest entry yet (as they’re super heavy.) Every screen is accessible with at least 1 wheelchair space, some have two. These aren’t the old fashion spaces where you have to sit in the first row either. As the screens hold fewer seats, there’s actually a tonne of room for the wheelchair spaces to pop on the breaks next to whoever they’re with. There are brand new lifts big enough to fit a chair and a person, meaning every single screen is accessible. There has been a lot of thought put into making the Odeon Luxe experience available to everyone, including where they put the buttons for the elevators. Super impressive!
There is now only 10 screens in the Odeon Luxe Sheffield and this is because every single seat is a recliner. They all have a tray table and controls so you can get in your comfiest position. I did notice that with being a size 24, I would hit the controls as they’re on the inner right-hand side, rather than on top of the arm, this isn’t a problem though. They’ve been really clever with designing these seats and you can actually lift the arm up between you and whoever you’re up, giving you a little more space and meaning if you’re big like me, you won’t be pressing the buttons.
Don’t worry about the screens being smaller, the sound or quality isn’t affected at all. In fact, it’s better. For those of you who will know what this means, they have Dolby 7.1 surround sound, for those of us who have no idea, apparently, that’s really good!
Obviously, an upgrade like this means a spike in ticket prices? Nope! They’ve barely gone up. With an adult peak ticket costing just £8, and I’ve just spotted that they want you to buy your tickets in the cinema, and make it slightly cheaper to do so. Odeon cinemas are also part of the CEA Card scheme. I’m actually looking into getting a membership card, as with the prices, how comfortable it is, and how amazing the upgrade is, I can definitely see myself visiting again.
We watched Instant Family, which is the most beautiful film based on a true story. We laughed and even cried, I highly recommend going to see it! Thanks so much for having us Odeon Luxe Sheffield!
