Murder Mystery Dinner Party Game – Red Herring Games

I’ve been to a Murder Mystery Dinner Party before and it was absolutely hilarious. There were actors, everyone dressed up, and we had a fancy meal whilst trying to solve the murder. It was honestly one of the best events I’ve ever been to and I cannot recommend having a Murder Mystery Dinner Party enough. Especially one that you can do in the comfort of your own house, with your friends and family. We Jumped at the chance to review the Murder of Curst Mansion from Red Herring Games.

The thought of running a Murder Mystery Dinner Party could be a little scary to some, but seen as the version we played is based in the 1920s, a theme was easy! My family is seriously over the top, and straight away everyone said that they wanted to dress up. Which lead onto me buying gold and black decorations, and soon, we had ceiling to floor gold tinsel curtains. The women dresses in glitter and sequins, and my dad had a full inspector outfit, including magnifying glass and pipe. I did tell you we are over the top. It was really easy to find decorations and outfits, everyone really enjoyed how glitzy the dining room looked and the kittens loved the decorations too.

You may be thinking, isn’t that a bit of a waste for just one party? Well, Red Herring Games have just launched ‘murder of the month’ which is where you can buy a new plot every single month! It’s such a fantastic idea and a great reason to throw dinner parties! Whether you just want some family time or to catch up with friends, it really is a hilarious night.

Inside the box there’s everything you’ll need from invitations, instructions, character booklets, recipes if you’re stuck on what to cook, and a CD of the game, as well as script. Having both the CD and script means that you can either have someone play the inspector, or if you’re a man short, you can play the CD instead!

What really attracted me to this is that even if you don’t have the full 12 people to play, they have created customised sets so no matter if you have 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10 people, there’s a plot that works for your party! This is a really clever touch in my opinion and with our 7, we really loved that everyone was included.
