Molke Bras & Chronic Pain AD

I’m so excited that my first collaboration of the year combines fashion and disability. I have talked briefly on my Twitter and Instagram about feeling a little invisible and left behind by the blogging world now that I’m more open about my daily life struggles with being disabled and having chronic pain. This means when a company sees this as an asset to working with me, it really makes me feel more proud of being so vocal. When you have chronic pain, chronic illness or you are disabled, your needs might change. As much as I would have loved a manual to cope with being newly disabled, life doesn’t give you one. I’ve had to find out hacks, tricks, tips, and general things that will make my life easier slowly over the years. One thing I’m always battling with is underwear.

Molke is a body-positive ethical underwear company and they specialise in bright and beautiful designs for all shapes and sizes from a size 6 to 28. I have seen fellow bloggers wearing their designs at a size 32 so depending on the fabric, this is definitely a possibility which is just amazing to see such a brand with such an inclusive range. The main attraction for me with Molke is that there are no wires at all in these bras yet look at the support! It’s pretty impressive just to look at but to try yourself? I couldn’t believe it! You still need to scoop and swoop to make sure your breast tissue is sat in the right place, this is always super important with any bra you wear. I measure at a 44inch back (I’m around a size 24/26) which puts me at a 2XL in Molke sizing and H cup, which they call a Super. I tried a cup up first (called Mega) and noticed that although the support was good, my cleavage wasn’t as impressive as normal. Going down to the Super Cup fixed this completely. Depending on the fabric some designs do feel tighter than others for the first few wears, but just like other bras this will ease up over time and become more even more comfortable whilst still giving the same support.  

Of course, the Purple Lace design spoke to me and I was so excited to first try it. I always find that with anything that is meant to be comfortable, style and fashion never really plays a part. Comfort doesn’t have to mean that it’s not sexy or can never be sexy. It doesn’t have to mean that you can’t have fun too! Molke bras come in so many amazing patterns, colours, and prints that you don’t have to ever feel boring or left out again. These bras have no hooks at all and simply slip on over your head. This design has a fabric rating of ‘3 firm’ which means it’s great for supporting larger boob sizes. As you don’t have to fasten this bra I can see it being a perk for a lot of people, I still need help putting mine on but that’s just because of my levels of pain/mobility. 

With my wheelchair, I have noticed that bras with a thinner band caused an unnecessary amount of pain once I’ve been sat down for a while, no matter if it’s the right size or if I try to size up for comfort. I have started wearing bras with a bigger band but they’re hard to come by and extremely expensive, we’re talking £50 a bra. This Molke bra is more comfortable, gives very similar support and yet costs £35!
