Maki & Ramen Meadowhall Sheffield Review
We’ve finally got Maki & Ramen at Meadowhall, Sheffield, and honestly, I could not be happier about it. I already know this is going to be my new favourite spot. Sushi has always been a really safe food for me while living with bile acid malabsorption, so having a proper sit-down Japanese restaurant right inside Meadowhall feels like such a win.
Maki & Ramen Meadowhall – The Atmosphere
Walking in, it immediately feels like a proper restaurant experience with big booths and cherry blossoms, of course! It feels perfect for a relaxed lunch, a casual dinner, or even a date night if you’re already in Meadowhall.
The only downside for me personally was the booth seating. The benches are quite high, and as a plus-size person, I didn’t find them particularly comfortable. I always prefer lower down, comfier seating with a bit more ease to get in and out of. That said, this was genuinely the only negative, and it didn’t take away from how much I enjoyed the overall experience.

The Food at Maki & Ramen Meadowhall
This is where Maki & Ramen really shines. The menu is extensive without feeling overwhelming, and everything is clearly designed to let you build a meal that suits exactly what you’re craving.
You’ll find:
- Deep, comforting ramen bowls
- Donburi rice bowls that are filling and full of flavour
- Yakisoba noodles
- Lots of small plates and sides for sharing
- A brilliant sushi selection including maki, nigiri, sashimi, and speciality rolls
- Desserts to finish things
For me, the sushi was exactly what I hoped for. Fresh, clean flavours, beautifully presented, and the kind of food that feels gentle on your body while still being exciting to eat. It’s the sort of menu where you can go light or indulgent, depending on how you’re feeling.
I went along with a group of friends, and we all ordered different things, which meant we got to see a lot of the menu, and everything was really impressive. Great portion sizes too, and I thought the prices were really good!
Drinks & Cocktails
The cocktails deserve a special mention because they are fancy. I had the Cherry Blossom in a beautiful rose-shaped glass, with dramatic dry ice. It was a drink that felt like a full experience rather than just something to sip alongside your food! It adds a bit of fun and makes the whole visit feel more like an occasion.
Why I’ll Be Back (A Lot)
Having Maki & Ramen in Meadowhall genuinely feels like such an upgrade. When you want something a bit healthier, fresh, but in an actual restaurant, this is the perfect spot. It’s also ideal if you’re shopping and want somewhere calm to sit down, recharge, and actually enjoy your meal.
The seating height is something I hope they rethink in the future, but aside from that, it’s a place I can already see myself returning to again and again.

It’s a proper sit-down restaurant, which makes it ideal if you want a break from shopping or a more relaxed dining experience inside Meadowhall, but they also do takeaway!
