Gameshow AllStars Sheffield Review
If you’re looking for a night out in Sheffield that goes beyond the usual pub or restaurant, Gameshow AllStars is the answer. Right on the corner of Orchard Square in Sheffield city centre, this one-of-a-kind activity bar brings your favourite TV game shows to life, it’s honestly the most fun we’ve ever had in Sheffield and something we all can’t recommend enough!
With seven unique game stations, tasty cocktails, and tasty pizzas from Proove Pizza, Gameshow AllStars Sheffield offers a night out that’s extremely fun and heavily competitive. Our group of seven spent around two and a half hours playing through every game at our own pace, enjoying food and drinks along the way. It’s chaotic, hilarious, and genuinely a brilliant laugh.
What Is Gameshow AllStars Sheffield?
Gameshow AllStars Sheffield is an immersive game show bar where you and your team become the contestants. Each game is inspired by iconic television shows, but with a fun twist and a few surprises along the way. The whole experience is built for groups and is best enjoyed when everyone gets involved. Whether you’re competitive or just there for the fun, there’s something for every personality type.
Below is a breakdown of each of the seven games currently featured.
Word Race
Word Race is inspired by the legendary Countdown word rounds. A nine-letter anagram appears on screen, and you’ve got 30 seconds to make as many words as you can. Words must be three letters or more, and longer words earn you more points. It’s brilliant for those who enjoy language games and don’t crack under pressure.
For some reason with the countdown my mum and I just absolutely crumbled and I forgot most of the English language. My brother thrived though, which I’m sure he’s told everyone he’s talked to since.
Buzzer Beater
Buzzer Beater is a rapid-fire reaction game that’s all about speed, timing, and accuracy. Hit the green buzzers for five points, blue for three, and avoid the red ones, which will deduct points. You’ll play across three intense rounds, each one getting faster and more chaotic.
This one is ideal for players who love a bit of arcade-style action. It feels like a cross between a game show and a dance mat, but for your hands.
It’s actually really hard, you think you’re so good watching others play in and then suddenly you’re stood in front in a panic!
Plink Plonk
Plink Plonk combines the drama of Tipping Point with actually having to put the chips in yourself! So the pressure is on. Climb up the steps and drop your chip onto the giant board, you have to decide on whether to trust your teammates or yourself on where to drop your next chip! Where it lands determines your score, and with three goes each, anything can happen.
The strategy is in choosing where to drop, but once it’s falling, you’re at the mercy of the board. It’s a big crowd pleaser and guaranteed to get people shouting advice, whether you want it or not.
We were all yelling at each other and actually really honest which was a change with how competitive we are!
If you have any accessibility issues, it’s a few steps to the top and it’s quite dark so pop your flash on and take your time.
Fastest Contestant First
Inspired by Fastest Finger First from Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, this game challenges players to order four answers correctly as quickly as possible. You get five rounds to prove your trivia skills and reaction time.
It’s tense, funny, and surprisingly difficult when the pressure’s on. Plus, the addition of Chris Tarrant’s cardboard cutout watching over you adds the perfect touch of nostalgia.
This was actually quite difficult as it’s combined with general knowledge and a bit of common sense in places, which under pressure, you don’t always have.
Say What You See
This game asks you to guess the phrase based on visual clues. It’s harder than it sounds, especially under a time limit. Some clues are instantly obvious, while others will leave you completely stumped.
You’ll need quick thinking and a bit of lateral logic to get ahead in Say What You See. It’s like a puzzle round on Catchphrase, but faster and with more shouting.
It’s much easier to understand when you’re watching others play, you have to click the well known phrases in the correct order so once you mess up, it’s downhill from there.
Winner’s Wheel
In Winner’s Wheel, you’ll answer three general knowledge questions. For each one you get right, you earn a spin of the wheel. Easy questions get you started, but the hard ones earn the biggest spins.
This one mixes quiz knowledge with pure chance. The massive spinning wheel is a real highlight and makes you feel like you’re on an actual set. Just watch out for the skull and crossbones.
Higher or Lower
In this physically active round, your goal is to knock down the highest-value playing cards by throwing soft balls at them. Aces are top tier, jokers are bottom, and everything in between is fair game.
This is a wild one. It’s fast, messy, and surprisingly satisfying when you knock over a high-scoring card. Perfect for anyone who likes a bit of friendly chaos and doesn’t mind a bit of light cardio.
We decided to team up for this with having achy people amongst our group, as it was the last game we played, it wasn’t going to make much of a difference to the scores anyway!
Food and Drink
Gameshow AllStars Sheffield partners with Proove Pizza to offer fresh, hot pizza straight to your table. It’s proper food, not just a snack, which makes it perfect for fuelling your games. There’s also a full bar with a solid cocktail menu, beers, and soft drinks. Every station has a little table nearby to place your drinks and there’s lots of seating in the middle too.
Accessibility
There’s no lift in the building, and the venue is up two small flights of stairs. However, once inside, there’s an accessible toilet and plenty of seating. Each game has nearby seating so you can join in at your own comfort level. If you have specific access needs, it’s worth calling ahead, as the team are open to helping where possible.
How much does it cost?
At £16 per person I think it’s a great price for the amount of fun you’ll have.

Gameshow AllStars Sheffield is the most unique night out the city has to offer. Whether you’re into word games, general knowledge, physical challenges or just cheering on your mates with a pint in hand, there’s something for everyone. We had a brilliant time and would absolutely go back again.
I bet you’re wondering who won? Well, it was actually my younger brother and I came a very close second. Which did make sense as we’re definitely the most competitive.
It’s interactive, well-designed, and above all, fun. The fact that you can take it at your own pace means it’s just as good for chill nights out as it is for more energetic groups.
