AD NEW Dyson Airwrap Review
You could say I’m a bit of a Dyson girl. From fans to hair tools, I’ve really tried and loved so many of their products. I actually spend an entire year researching the Dyson Airwrap before first buying one just under 4 years ago. I have used it every week since and absolutely love everything about it! I’ve had my eye on the new upgraded design for a while and have been fortunate enough to try one out via Very as they have an incredible range of hair tools.
So, for any new people out there, why is the Dyson Airwrap so special?
Well, when I was first looking into the Dyson Airwrap the thing that stood out the most was that it’s extremely lightweight. We’re talking even lighter than most standard hair dryers and with my bad back and chronic pain, that was the number 1 selling point to me. Number 2 was the fact that I could style my hair from wet to completely finished. This not only saved time but also looked after my hair as I wouldn’t need as much heat on it. The Dyson also has a heat setting that stays below 150°C meaning that overall it’s better for the health of your hair over a long period of time. Number 3 was it can do multiple different styles so it’s suitable for most hair types and meant that it’d be great for my mum’s shorter hair too.
How does the Dyson Airwrap Work?
It’s powered by air and the air is pushed around in one direction that creates the ‘coanda effect’ which is how your hair curls around the barrel on its own. It’s so interesting and impressive to watch! It basically works like a salon curly blow dry but with a lot less arm movement needed as the Coanda effect pulls all the hair onto the barrel and you just simply move the barrel slowly towards your scalp. After blasting with a cold shot, your curls will be set in place!
What is the difference between the new and old version of the Dyson Airwrap?
The old Dyson had two different curling barrels depending on which side of your hair you were curling, this has changed in the new version as they’ve combined them both into one where the airflow changes with a simple turn. They’ve also changed the main hair dryer to include the Coanda effect which will smooth and hide flyaways. Although I’ve tried this both in-store and now at home and I can’t quite figure it out I really hope so! They also say that they’ve enhanced the Coanda airflow on the new brushes (which have also had a slight update) to increase control for styling.

I have the long version of the Dyson Airwrap which means the 30mm and 40mm curling barrels are 50% longer than the standard ones, this makes it much easier on longer hair types but I’ve also found on thicker hair too.
Dyson Airwrap Before & After Curls
My favourite thing to do with the Dyson creates a curly blow dry. I always pin my curls and hairspray them before talking them down to get long-lasting curls!
Overall I would highly recommend the Dyson Airwrap, although it is at a high price point at £479.99 I do think that the last 4 years of owning one have made it absolutely worth it. Not only for the time I’ve saved doing my hair but for the pain I’ve saved as well. The Dyson Airwrap has made styling my hair so much easier and quicker than ever before.
