AD – Dress Up At Home with Very
As someone who hasn’t left the house for almost an entire year now, I think myself an expert on coming up with ideas on how to get through this lockdown/shielding/pandemic. For every birthday, occasion, and sometimes just because it’s the weekend, I’ve planned fun things to do to help our mental wellness and break up the days for my family. Although we are pretty used to being in the house a lot due to my chronic pain, it’s been difficult to be in for so long. Thanks to my blog, I have a reason to get ready every now and again, dress up and shoot content and I’ve absolutely loved doing that. A few weeks in my mum mentioned that she missed getting dressed up. So, we started to plan fun activities that we could do from the safety of our house and get in full glam.
Very really want to push the importance of wellness and how dressing can really help improve your mood. They have something for everyone in their incredible women’s plus size clothing range. Whether it’s getting out of the comfy clothes for a birthday, or planning your own little activity night, there’s something to suit everyone. We’ve come up with lots of different things you can do from home to improve your mental wellbeing and have a little fun, and I’ve put together some outfit inspiration for those activities.
Dress Up At Home with Very
Garden Cocktails

One of the very first things we did was plan a garden cocktail party, the venue was actually called ‘The Garden’ and I used Canva to make a fancy menu of all the cocktails that would be on offer. All I did was raid the alcohol cupboard, Google some cocktail recipes, and order anything we needed to make a few different drinks. The sun was shining, we took absolutely everything we needed outside so we didn’t have to keep going backward and forwards and we had a go at making all the different drinks!
It was an absolutely hilarious day and we ended up playing a few games of ‘Heads Up’ on our phones which got really competitive! After we finished games and cocktails we headed to cool down in the hot tub, which we turn into a cold tub in the summer and then off to bed because alcohol makes me very achy, so I always drink lots of water in bed afterward. So sensible of me.
What would I wear for garden cocktails? A beautiful floaty dress like this Quiz Curve Satin Bottle Polka Dot Short Sleeve Wrap Midi Dress, there’s nothing I love more than v neck floaty dress. They’re pretty much my go-to!
Casino Night In

I say casino night as a pack of playing cards is easier to find and more affordable but we’ve also branched out to other dinner party games like a murder mystery game and an escape game. You can pick them up from Amazon and then pass them to a friend and their family when you’re done. A casino night is so easy to set up, just play a couple of different card games, or if you want to go the extra mile, grab yourself a casino wheel so you can play roulette. You can also get chips or play with whatever you have around. You can make it as extra or as easy as you like, it’s just all about the fun! We go to our local casino a lot as it’s the only place we’ve found where you can really dress up and have a very fancy meal so of course if we’re having a casino night at home and playing online we would have to get dressed up properly.
So, what would I wear for a casino night? This beautiful Chi Chi London Arden Dress, it’s seriously so stunning with the deep reds and matches this darling red Valentino Clutch Bag so well. This is exactly the type of outfit I’d wear going out and get lots of wear from!
Games Night

We take cames night a little too seriously in my house. Especially after my dad’s recent cheating scandal where he said we were Team B but then when Team B won, suddenly he was Team B all along? If you can have a game night without fighting, they can be so much fun. Get out the old school games like Kerplunk or Jenga, there are even games on your phone like the Heads Up app I mentioned before. If all else fails, a game of charades is always a winner. We had a Christmas themed charades game that had us all in fits of laugher!
What do I wear for game nights? Well because I’m really competitive, I need to be as comfy as possible so something loose-fitting and floating, comfortable to sit in and act out in, like this V by Very Curve Pleated Skirt Wrap Dress. Dressing up to boost your mood doesn’t always have to be super fancy clothes, sometimes it just means literally any clothes at all that aren’t your bedclothes.
Come Dine With Me

Take it in turns to cook and play Come Dine With Me in your very own home. Honestly, our group chat keep talking about doing this when we’re it’s safe to go to each other’s houses and we all can’t wait. Everyone knows what they’re strongest at cooking, so essentially you already know what your Come Dine With Me menu would be. For my menu, I would probably start with a killer prawn cocktail, for my main course I would make either a lasagne (I am a pro lasagne maker) or maybe something Chinese based, although I’ve only tried to make Chinese food once and it didn’t go very well. For dessert, I would probably make banoffee pie but that’s because it’s the only dessert I really know how to make.
What would I wear for being the best host and cook? Something fancy but comfortable, this V by Very Curve Leopard Burnout Angel Sleeve Dress is so comfy to move around in, plus it looks so lovely with the leopard print. I’d have to glam up this black dress with a bright bag so either the Valentino bag again or this gorgeous Kurt Geiger Mini Kensington Crossbody Bag.
Other activities we’ve done from home include movie days/nights, which are pretty self-explanatory. For my mum’s birthday, I created an at-home spa day, including a spa menu, several treatments performed by myself, and it had everything from diffusers with spa smelling essential oils to fluffy robes!
