Creating Perfect Eye Makeup
When it comes to perfect eye makeup, there are a few things you need to make sure you get right, including false lashes. Mostly, it’s the quality of the products and whether they suit your skin and eye shape. Before starting on your eyes, you’ll want to ensure that you’ve got a flawless base and the best way to do this is with a Beauty Blender. Every now and again I try using makeup brushes instead, but nothing gives me the results of a flawless base like Beauty Blenders do. Sure, I’ve tried cheaper versions as £16 per sponge is a lot to part with, but they’re just not as good. I must have around 6 Beauty Blenders now and I’ve only just discovered just how good the Blender Cleanser is, it really is the best way to wash them so don’t ignore this cleanser as I have in the past, it will save so much time and effort.
If you’re looking for a new vegan base to try, then check out Emani. This brand has been going for 20 years and is great for those with sensitive skin conditions as it was founded by a makeup artist with cystic acne. It’s a little too sheer for my taste but it is a beautiful foundation, and the primer works with it so wonderfully! The primer is £32 which is rather steep, but it does work well under other foundations I’ve tried too. I wouldn’t say it necessary helps my makeup stay on longer, but the application is smoother because of a moisturised base. The foundation is £34 so it’s definitely in the high-end price range, but it’d be worth looking into if other foundations irritate your skin.
Starting off with eyeshadow, you’ll want to use a high-quality product to ensure it doesn’t crease and stays in place all day. I’ve recently been trying out the Charlotte Tilbury Stars In Your Eyes palette at £60 and it really is beautiful. This is a limited edition palette and it works by having 4 different looks with 3 eyeshadows each. It means that even if you’re not confident, this palette will tell you exactly where to put the colours. I really like it, I think the formulas are great, but would I pay £60 for it? No. There’s much better out there for a more reasonable price.
Moving onto eyeliner and this is a truly surprising new discovery from a new brand, Flawless Lashes By Loretta. They launched in Summer last year and this is a jet-black eyeliner with a super precision tip. I can actually write my name on the back of my hand it’s that precise! It’s a compact liner, meaning it is smaller than your average and that takes some getting used to, but once you’ve got the hang of it, it’s amazing! Just take a look at the photos below with the mascara, what a perfect liner! It’s £19.99 and definitely worth trying.
Before applying false eyelashes, it’s always best to apply a good mascara that won’t crack or leave black under your eyes. I squealed when Marc Jacobs sent me their mascara with my name on it! What a treat! When I opened it and saw the wand, I’ll be honest I did not expect much at all. However, this is actually a pretty good mascara. I got enough lift, coverage, separation, and it didn’t smudge or run! It’s actually been one of my go-to mascaras because of how it makes my bottom lashes look too. I’m pleasantly surprised. Here’s a before and after with the Marc Jacbos Mascara Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara at £22.
Finish off with a pair of lashes that suit your eyes. I’ve recently moved from my favourite Red Cherry Lashes, onto huge ones thanks to these from Prima Lash. The Chloe Sims lashes have changed my opinion completely on more expensive lashes and now I’m completely obsessed. They give my eyes so much more definition, they suit my face even better, and it’s a real wow-factor! Prima Lashes definitely started my new obsession, I think I got about 5-8 wears out of these lashes in the end. They’re just such good quality! I was paying £4 per pair and these are £12, 3x more expensive and honestly, they do last 3x as long, and look 3x better. I’m sold! I know own so many styles of lashes that are big and fluffy like this. Of course, these won’t suit everyone, that’s why it’s so important to try on different styles, and then cut the lash band down to your eye length too!
