AD Create the Perfect Boo Basket for Autumn with Very

I absolutely love Halloween. Autumn in general is my favourite excuse to make the house feel ridiculously cosy, but Halloween is when I really come alive. I used to create so many Halloween makeup looks that I actually had a whole section of my blog dedicated to them, and I’m seriously considering bringing it back this year!

For now, I’m starting slightly more wholesome with one of my favourite trends of the last few years: the Boo Basket.

If you’ve somehow missed them, a Boo Basket is basically the autumn and Halloween version of a Christmas hamper. You fill a basket with cosy treats, little gifts, Halloween bits and anything else the person receiving it will love. You can make one for your partner, your friends, your family or, quite frankly, yourself.

And I am absolutely in favour of making one for yourself.

I’ve teamed up with Very to put together what I think is the perfect Boo Basket, combining cosy autumn essentials, beauty treats and some gorgeous decorations that I’ll be using around our home for years to come.

Start With a Basket You Can Actually Reuse

The first thing you need is obviously the basket itself, and I picked this set of two striped baskets from The Very Collection.

They’re much bigger than I expected, which actually makes them perfect for creating a really impressive Boo Basket without having to cram everything in.

I also love that they’re genuinely useful afterwards. I’m going to use mine as toy baskets for my nephews’ things at our house, so when they come over, everything can live in one place rather than slowly taking over every room.

That is my favourite kind of seasonal purchase. Something that looks lovely for the occasion but isn’t going to end up shoved into a cupboard afterwards.

Add Something Ridiculously Cosy

You cannot make a Boo Basket without something cosy.

I chose the Catherine Lansfield Enchanted Twilight Animals Throw in green and it is SO pretty.

It has foxes and owls all over it, so it has that woodland autumn feeling without being so obviously Halloween-themed that you can only use it for three weeks of the year.

I’m already picturing it on the sofa for cosy film nights when it’s dark outside at approximately 4pm and nobody wants to leave the house.

Another cosy addition I picked was the Menkind Electric Hot Water Bottle with Charger.

As somebody who lives with chronic pain, anything warm that I can put against my back instantly catches my attention. This is exactly the sort of thing I’d put in a Boo Basket for someone who loves being cosy, especially going into the colder months.

Add the blanket, put a Halloween film on and I’m basically not moving again until spring.

Beauty Treats Always

Of course, mine was never going to be a Boo Basket without beauty products.

There are loads of lovely Gifts for Her on Very, so this is where you can really personalise your basket depending on who you’re making it for.

I picked the Jimmy Choo Le Parfum 60ml Eau de Parfum and 100ml Body Lotion, because I’ve loved Jimmy Choo perfumes for years. Perfume gift sets are brilliant for baskets like this because they instantly make the whole thing feel a little more luxurious.

I also added the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Nourishing Skin Essentials three-piece gift set.

Winter is coming, which means my skin is about to start demanding approximately seventeen additional layers of skincare, so this felt like a very sensible addition.

This is also why I love Boo Basket ideas. It doesn’t have to be exclusively Halloween products. You can mix seasonal pieces with things you know somebody will genuinely use.

Then Make It Spooky

Now for my favourite part.

Very has so many Halloween Decorations at the moment, and I wanted pieces that would work throughout autumn rather than only on Halloween night.

I picked this gorgeous 60cm Lit Autumn Mixed Leaf Wreath with Berries, along with the matching Autumn Black and Beige Lit Leaf Garland.

Finally, I chose the Lights4fun TruGlow Copper LED Autumn Candle Trio for that lovely flickering candlelight without having to actually light anything.

All of these are going straight into my yearly autumn decoration collection.

We moved into this house last November, so this will actually be our first proper autumn and Halloween here. I cannot believe it’ll have been a whole year since we moved in by November. Time is absolutely flying.

The exciting part is that we have so much more space now, so I can finally properly decorate for autumn and Halloween rather than trying to squeeze everything into one corner. The wreath, garland, pumpkins and candles will definitely be making appearances around the house every year.

What Should You Put in the Perfect Boo Basket?

The best Boo Baskets aren’t necessarily the ones with the most things in them. They’re the ones where everything feels like it was chosen specifically for that person.

Start with something cosy, add a treat they wouldn’t necessarily buy themselves, include a couple of seasonal decorations and then finish it with something personal.

For a beauty lover, that might be perfume and skincare. For someone obsessed with movie nights, add a blanket, mug and snacks. For your partner, you could include their favourite sweets, something cosy and a gift you’ve chosen specifically for them.

You could even make a family Boo Basket and fill it with things everyone can use for a Halloween film marathon.

Or simply make yourself one.

Personally, I think coming home to a basket filled with a beautiful blanket, skincare, perfume, cosy heat and tiny pumpkins sounds considerably better than being scared.

Although if SheMightBeSpooky does make its return this year, I can’t promise things will stay quite this wholesome.
