Avene #Nevertooold for Acne

Avene invited me down to London for their evening of a lavish meal in a french restaurant with expert dermatologist Dr Sam Bunting and to talk all things skincare. Avene are keen to spread the message that you are #NeverTooOld for acne, and really try to give as much information as possible to adults suffering from Acne, as it’s such a misconception that acne is just for teenagers. From when Hayley and I walked in, we were greeted by the Avene team who really took the time to get to know us more and find out what we were all about. It was a refreshing change as normally there are too many bloggers at events for the brand to care what we’re personally all about, but I had some lovely conversations and the team have really made a lasting impression. I had never heard of the brand before, I know, I’m a terrible blogger sometimes! But now, I cannot imagine life without them. It’s not the easiest range to get your head around, as the reasons to why the products work can be quite complex, but with the help of their very easily navigated website, I am going to break down the products I’ve been using.

The Avène Thermal Spring Water at £7 for 150ml, had the entire time of Avene super excited just to tell us all about it, so I was obviously interested to learn more. It’s a water that is meant to be use in-between of products to help sooth the skin, whilst making it softer and calmer. It can be used after surgeries, on redness, irritations of the skin, rashes, after shaving,  on sunburn, or simply to cool yourself. It’s mostly aimed at the more sensitive of skins, but anyone can use it. I personally love it, it’s so refreshing and my skin is looking a lot clearer after a huge breakout thanks to sticking to Avene and using this water in-between of products.

The Avene Cleanance Micellar Water at £16 for 400ml is my new favourite product to use. I’m not a fan of micellar waters as normally it’s just far better to wash your face with water, so instead, I use this as a second cleanser and to remove any leftover eye makeup as I do wear a lot. It even tackles waterproof which really impressed me. Not only that but there is a special reason why I have been using this so much and that’s because it has Monolaurin which helps to regulate the overproduction of sebum, and having oily skin, I know that mine are seriously over producing right now. It also contains an ingredient to clean and another to soothe meaning that it’s suitable for most skin types.

 It’s hard to say which products are my favourites, as I really think they all are. The Triacneal Expert at £23 for 30ml is a seriously impressive evening moisturiser. I don’t say that often, but this moisturiser targets spots whilst tackling the first signs of ageing, whereas normally products that target spots dry out the skin. This is completely different, it contains Diolényl®, an anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory ingredients which helps get rid of blemishes as well as preventing them. It also contains X-Pressin™ which helps reduce the left behind marks of blemishes, something that I seriously need a bucket load of, and finally Retinaldehyde which is all about unblocking pores, helping marks, and has the benefits of being a Vitamin A derivative which means it has anti-ageing benefits.

I’ve found that the Hydrance Optimale Hydrating Serum is an absolute darling to put on at night. You’ve probably noticed already that the prices are really reasonable for this range, they don’t come across as overly overpriced and they’re certainly worth every penny in my eyes. This serum is £17 for 30ml and is meant to provide long lasting hydrating and soothing. It contains the same Spring Water that you can buy on its own, as well as glycerin which leaves skin feeling soft and looking radiant.
