Are My Kittens Spoilt?
I knew straight away when I saw the photos of both Anya and Bella that they were the kittens for me. They were the only kittens we went to see and they truly are special. We treat them as if they are actually children, and last week my mum said how she thought they were a little bored of their current toys, and so being the great cat mum that I am, I ordered them the biggest order ever from ZooPlus. Hence calling this post, are my kittens spoilt? They’ve loved absolutely everything I’ve bought them, they play and use everything! Even over the top filtered flower water fountain, which is actually amazing for getting them to drink plenty of water. I’ve even ordered the smaller one for upstairs and it is probably my best purchase yet. They love cat tunnels, their baby gym, and all Catit Sensory toys, I even like playing with these toys with the kittens too. The Catit toys require more thinking so you kind of have to show your fur babies what to do, but once they get the hang of it, they love it! I didn’t realise that Catit toys actually fit together so you can make like a ‘learning/sensory’ area which is really cool, I’ve got some more things on the way (don’t judge me, ha!) so I’ll be showing you what this looks like really soon.
Anya and Bella sleep and rest on all their pillows and cat beds too, but they especially like their ridiculously fancy Fletcher of London Charlie Chau Day Bed Mattress. It’s now been located to the hallway underneath the radiator and they’re obsessed with it! It’s such amazing quality and I can see them using this for years to come! I love the pop of colour that it brings to the hallway too. Also in the hallway we have their leopard print radiator bed, both girls can be found snoozing here during the day. It’s such a snug place for them with the heat and as we don’t have too much light on the corridor during the day. They also have a smaller scratch post with bed, and yet another leopard print day bed too. They need options! Sometimes they want to nap up high, sometimes they prefer next to the floor. Alfie set this up for them and although sometimes it feels like the house is being taken over, we’re already looking for a bigger cat tower for the hallway.
Are my kittens spoilt? Yep, but they deserve it.
Bella really loves getting into smaller and cosier spaces, which means the Mikki Pet Multibed is her favourite as it can either be laid flat for on the sofa or floor, or turn into a snuggly bed with walls! It takes seconds to change it between the two and it’s so fluffy! Bella nearly blends in but you can turn it inside out if you don’t want to lose your cat several times a day. All of our grooming brushes have actually been from Mikka Pet, they definitely have the best ones for both short and long haired cats. We tend to keep brushes upstairs and downstairs, as Bella’s fur needs a lot of work and she’s not always up for a brush which means you have to seize the opportunity when she does let you. We have bathed the kittens twice now, mainly because of little accidents. The first time the cheap shampoo I bought for them wasn’t great, so that’s gone now. Frontline just brought out a range and this has made both their coats look SO good! So we’re sticking to that. We’ve obviously bought the one for long haired cats because these two are fur balls! Apparently long haired cats, and white cats, do need a little help with maintenance and they’re both really good with water (well the second bath was a lot easier than the first!) so that doesn’t scare us now.
The best thing about my fur babies is that even though they love a good cardboard box and obsess over packaging, they equally love the things inside! I know a lot of cat mums say that their fur children prefer the boxes, but Anya and Bella are so interested in everything and they started playing with things almost immediately. They’re such perfect children. At one point we did have 6 cardboard boxes in the living room and my mum wanted paint and tapes to make something special. One day!
Anya and Bella sleep in the bed with me at night, even though I do leave the door open so they can decide for themselves if they want me, or one of four cat beds in the corridor. I’m excessive, I know! I’ve been trying them out with so many treats to see what their favourites actually are and they do have different tastes when it comes to some and to milk, but I’ve really found some great treats that they both love. Like these little milk treat cartons above, they’re so cute! Bella loves vitamin pastes which is great because we’re really wanting her fur to grow even more beautiful and apparently they’re good for that! Zooplus has been my number 1 place to shop, I just feel like they have more variety online than Pets At Home. Although the first and only time I did a Pets At Home IN STORE shop, I went a little overboard. They have a much better selection of toys in store than they do online. However, online you can find more specific cat toys, such as eco-friendly cat gifts to make your kitty love you. Online you can shop from small companies that handmade items, so you can support someone’s business whilst making your cat happy.
I’m pretty sure I’m going to get to the point soon where we’ve tried every cat brand! But it’s so helpful to find what really works best. For example, we’ve tried nearly 10 different cat litter brands and found that Sanicat are the only one Anya and Bella don’t eat (obviously you don’t want them eating cat litter!). We’re still on the lookout for a better one as this is SO fine that it spreads everywhere and it’s not the easiest to hoover up. I haven’t come across a bad product or toy yet, it’s simply just what your cats prefer, and having two means that you’ve got more chances of at least 1 liking the things you buy!
As I’ve been writing this I’ve had both Anya and Bella walk across the keyboard, attacked my papers, for some reason Anya really hates the right armrest on my computer chair now so she’s been hitting that, and trying to knock my Maltesers on the floor. It’s a lot harder to work with two kittens on your desk, but you definitely don’t get bored and there’s plenty of laughs. After I press publish I’ll be heading for a bath, which means I either have Anya meowing for me outside the door (as she hates when I leave her, even for a wee in the middle of the night!), or I’ll have them both walking around the side of the bath nearly falling in. There’s never a dull moment anymore! I love them both so much and you probably already know that my mum is amazing, but she really is the best for getting me my fur babies.
