annalisa by Navabi
Navabi is known for creating stunning pieces in-house with their own brand range, Navabi Collection, and one of my personal favourites, Manon Baptiste. Last year they welcomed their latest brand, annalisa by Navabi. They’re known for having a sophisticated and high-end feel to all their pieces and that still comes across with annalisa but in a more accessible way. For one, the prices don’t seem to on the higher end of the high-end scale as most brands on the site, and they also seem to have more on-trend pieces. I’m not really one to follow trends, instead, I like to carefully pick pieces that I’ll be able to wear for years to come. A good example of this is my now over 2-year-old Navabi coat (you can read about my love for their coats here.)
From the new annalisa by Navabi, I picked out a not-so-simple black dress. This is a pleated maxi dress (a few sizes left) and it ticks all my design boxes. I love a long maxi and feeling like I’m wearing a gown, this definitely gives you that feeling. I’m 5’3 so this would still be maxi on someone taller than me. I asked for a size 26 as I know now with my wheelchair that I need things that are slightly bigger or basically, not tight at all. Otherwise moving and my levels of comfort are affected. I soon discovered I can’t wear maxi dresses in my new wheelchair (I’m devastated), so from an ‘is it wheelchair friendly?’ point of view, I cannot answer for this one sadly.
I say this isn’t a simple maxi dress as the deep low v-neck, floating butterfly sleeves and overall pleats and length give it a real witchy vibe. It has such great movement to it (which you can see on my Instagram grid here) and although I know some people could dress this down, I think it’s hard to conceal the pure glamour. This is definitely a going out dress. It’s far too fancy to be casual! It’s made from stretchy jersey and therefore you could wear your true size easily. I love fabrics light this because they’re so easy to look after and you don’t need to worry about ironing or creases.
Of course, I’m wearing a harness bra, I mean can we even imagine me without one now? I just love what they bring to an outfit whilst also being super comfortable, at least in this case! It’s the Elomi Bijou Flirt and I’m afraid it’s a little old now so I’m running out of places to buy more but if you look hard enough you might be able to find one.
Wondering what else I like from annalisa? Well, how handy that I picked a few things out including this beautiful modern style vintage style polka dot dress. I do love a 1950s dress but I’m always looking for a modern version now and this is perfect!
