Evans Rebrand – Plus Size Try On
Evans has always been my go-to for wide-fit shoes and leggings, that’s it. I refer to Evans as the original fat shop, it’s the first plus-size store I remember and somewhere I’ve always shopped in, but not because it was the trendiest place or had the best options. Simply because it’s just always been there and it’s reliable for basics. It’s not the place I’d tell people to go for a fancy outfit or even to keep checking out, but now Evans has been bought by City Chic, things have drastically changed. The new Evans rebrand is really quite exciting.

New Plus Size Brands at Evans
Evans has stocked City Chic for many years now but with City Chic fully taking over, lots of new brands have been introduced that we haven’t had access to in the UK before. Fox & Royal, CCX, Zim & Zoe, Societie+, Arna York, and Avenue are all plus-size brands that I haven’t seen on the UK market before. I did wonder if the stock was over in the UK and if Evans would be able to fulfill next-day deliveries, as well as wondering about their new size ranges, so I did an order to try some things out.
Sizing at Evans
My first worrying observation was that the size range isn’t as inclusive anymore. As the original plus-size store, Evans is known to cater up to UK32, and people rely on that. Not all of these new brands cater up to a UK32, some cater above with limited styles, and some tend to stop around a UK28. You really need to be checking the sizing charts but here’s a quick rundown for ease and then my personal findings.
Plus Size Brands at Evans Size Range
City Chic Size Range – Up to UK28
Zim & Zoe Size Range – UK28
Refinity Size Range – UK28
Anna York Size Range – UK28
CCX Size Range – UK28
Evans Size Range – UK32
Loralette Size Range – UK32
Societie+ Size Range – UK32
Aveology Size Range – UK38
Avenue Size Range – UK38
Fox & Royal – This is difficult, the bras fit me perfectly but looking at the size chart it doesn’t seem like the briefs go further than a size UK20 and I can’t work out what the chemise sizes are. The same for City Chic briefs, which is really disappointing.
How Did I Find The Sizing and New Brands?
City Chic Amy Chemise – Size on website 24/XXL which makes it a UK28. I wanted to try the biggest size available which is a size above me and because of this, it actually fits perfectly, it looked how it did on the model, floaty, the right length and there was even some support for my bust without a bra! I would 110% buy something like this again.

Fox & Royal Clementine Underwire Bra – 44F
Usually, I do buy a 44G but I risked an F cup and it was such a lovely fit! I love the harness detail and it was extremely comfortable on the back. I’d definitely order underwear from them again!

Green City Chic Arizona Longline Contour Bra 44F
Usually, I do buy a 44G but I risked an F cup and both were a perfect fit. I’m so pleased as the new underwear at Evans is HOT, seriously hot! They even have a spanking skirt!? I’m really obsessed with this bra, it was extremely comfortable. Almost like a bralette with how comfy it was on my shoulders. I just wish I could have got the matching briefs!

Fox & Royal Chemise – 22/XL on the website, fitted like a 26. There was no bust support, it fits around me but was a lot shorter than on the model.
Fox & Royal Satin Robe – 22/XL on the website, fitted like a 26. It closed at the top but not on the bottom, completely wearable if you’re not wanting to be fully covered up and I have my eye on more of these robes. You’ll have to forgive the video screenshots, I wasn’t smart enough to take photos of everything as I didn’t realise how interested people would be.

AVENUE Latifa Dress – 26-28 – very true to size, it was definitely roomy on me and I forgot to add the belt on my video but I think it just shows how much room there is in this.

CITY CHIC Tropical Escape Maxi Dress – 22 / XL on the website – fitted like a 28, extremely roomy! It came with an inner lining dress but that was pathetically small but I really don’t think it’s needed at all, the dress is hardly seethrough.

CITY CHIC Prowess Maxi Dress – 22 / XL on the website – fitted like a roomy 26, lots of material, and no flashing at all for a wrap dress. This was heavy, great quality just the wrong type of leopard print for me.

EVANS Polka Dot Shirred Maxi Dress – 26 – shockingly it was Evans who actually came up small! This was a very tight fitting 26, definitely needed to size up for comfort.

I’ve been refreshing Evans daily and it’s a good job I have because I came across the most beautiful leopard print dress of my dreams. It just so happens to be City Chic and it’s seriously stunning. I got it in the size 22 which is a UK24 and it fits really nicely except it doesn’t completely fasten on the boobs, not that I’d ever wear it like that anyway. I also got it in forest green which again is stunning but it was only available in a 20 which is a UK22 and is a lot tighter but still works just about!

Apologies for not taking more photos in the other pieces, I was just going to make a quick try on video for Instagram and then I realised how many people don’t understand that the sizes listed aren’t UK sizes on every brand. Plus size options are already so limited without people thinking they can’t shop at Evans any more, instead, I hope this post and me trying the sizes and explaining what they go up to in UK sizes, helps you to explore the new brands and styles!
Let me know how you get on and what you end up trying?
