Life After 50 – Mummy G turns 55!

This post is a collaboration.

You always hear that life starts at 30, 40, 50, 60, or even 70 depending on who you’re talking to. My mum is turning the grand age old age of 55 at the end of August and so, we’ve been looking back over the last 5 years. With losing my nan, starting my blog, and venturing into something completely unknown, like the world of blogging, it’s been interested to say the very least. You could even say that her life after 50 has been full of adventures! Here’s a couple of highlights…

Leeds

Leeds was the first city that we went to for a blog event, my parent’s drove me and they went out for a little pub crawl. They found an amazing saxophone place and then later turned up at the event to see if I was okay, they’re so cute. They ended up meeting all the bloggers that I had met and that is the night that we met, our now dear friend, Faith! My mum and dad loved Leeds that much that they then drove me to every event there (so that they could go out and explore Leeds even more), and then my brother even paid for them to have a weekend there.

Family Holiday

life after 50

With my nan being so ill for the decade beforehand, my mum never wanted to leave the country in case something happened. Which meant we didn’t go abroad for those 10 years. It was a big step to finally go back to the South of Spain to see my mum’s best friend, but we’ve now been for 3 years in a row and we’re already planning the 4th.

London

life after 50

When I was first invited to an event in London, my mum was less than happy about me going to Soho on my own. My mum and dad had met in London and lived there for many years, so she freaked out a little. The brand were more than understanding (I was 18 at the time too), so they paid for mum to come along. It was then that our many London visits started and after getting over the nerves of the first trip, we’ve been to countless events. We’ve been in fashion design rooms, cat cafes, had lunch on a boat, been pampered at a mother’s day event, and even been to the theatre a couple times too.

Spas

life after 50

Through blogging we’ve been invited to review quite a few different spas and it’s lead to a healthy obsession to us treating ourselves every few months. Our favourite is definitely the Mercure in Sheffield, it’s only 20 minutes away from our house and it really is amazing for relaxing and pampering. The best spa we’ve been to is still the Spa at The Midland, that place is heavenly.

Paris

As a Christmas present my brother and I sent my parents to Paris. They’ve always wanted to go and so we thought it would be perfect. They had an incredible time and really want to go back. Their highlight was having a 3 course meal on the river cruise at night, apparently it was magical.

These are just some of the things my mum has done in the last 5 years, life after 50 has been amazing and I can’t wait to see what we get up to in the next 5! Happy Birthday, Mummy!
