Plus Size Swimwear Lookbook 2018

A few years ago the only swimwear I would ever wear was something incredibly plain and practical, now I’m the complete opposite. I love wearing anything that is bright, bold, contrasting, with frills, or cutouts. The more out there, the better! For the last few years, I’ve been going on holidays with pools and beaches which has meant that I’ve been trying out just about every style of plus size swimwear there is. Be sure to head back and look at my swimwear pieces from previous years (2016 and 2017), I’m sure you’ll agree with me that this year has been the best collection yet.

Navabi

Cactus Crossover Lacing Tankini – £52

I’ve now tried swimwear at every price point and as much as I love a cheap piece that I can wear a few times and then swap for something else, a quality piece is definitely something we all need to try at some point. You can tell straight away with the material, the design, and the quality overall which is a high-end piece. This Navabi Cactus Tankini may not fit on my boobs properly, but how great do they look anyway? I really do love this, for the colours and the fit. I’m wearing a size 22-24 which is perfect for me (you can’t really do anything when the bust is a set size), I don’t have the matching pants so I just wore any black ones instead and I think it was a nice break of the pattern.

Cactus Swimsuit with Detachable Straps – £84

This is a truly gorgeous swimsuit, the fit is perfection in a size 24 and the style of this is really pretty. It stood out to me straight away as I love blues and almost watercolour prints, but I was really surprised at just how great it looks on. The black waistband isn’t something I’ve seen on a swimsuit before, and it works to make you look even curvier. You can wear this strapless too as it’s lightly padded for support. I’ve already put these two swimsuits away to take on holiday next year as their fit and quality just cannot be beaten. I highly recommend looking at Navabi for quality swimwear that will last and make you look extremely glamorous next to the pool.

Elomi

Neon Nights Black Moulded Tankini

Another place for high quality plus size swimwear pieces is Elomi, but it does depend on which pieces you pick. I really loved the Neon Nights Tankini set, although I found the pants in a size 24 to be rather tight and uncomfortable, the Tankini top is great though. It’s a very nice fit, it doesn’t roll up as fast as others do and I like the pattern on it. There are slightly different prices for this set as Elomi is stocked in so many different stores, so you’d be better off searching around for who has a good deal on!

Indie Indigo Tankini

I have loved the Indie sets since I first set eyes on them and I actually wore this quite a lot before my holiday, which is why it isn’t looking its best in the photos. I think expensive swimwear should be washed with a little more care to keep their shape more, and with this being a more relaxed shape, washing it a few times definitely hasn’t been good for it. Although the colour and style is still amazing, and it’s my new go-to for the hot tub at home as it’s super easy to get on and off. Again I didn’t have the matching pants so I just wore some cheap high waisted ones that I got from Studio.

Swimwear 365

Navy & Red Spotty V-neck Swimsuit – £54.99

I am obsessed with this swimsuit! I really feel like this extremely comfortable design and fit, I’m wearing a size 24, is perfect for me. It’s so easy to get on and off, yet it doesn’t look to big when it’s on. The design of this is so cute with the gathered detailing in the centre. I’m really going to struggle not to constantly wear this for the hot tub or spa days as I just adore how good it looks with my hair. Swimwear365 have some amazing swimwear choices, not all of them are as pricey as this one, and I’ve still got a swimsuit from them that has been going 3 years and it’s just as good!

River Island

Plus Black Mesh Swimsuit – £45

I can’t say it wasn’t weird saying how exposed I felt when my parents were telling me how good the swimsuit looked, but after seeing the photos, I do look a lot more covered up than I felt! This is a really great swimsuit if you want something black but still a lot of fun. The plunge really does feel a lot deeper when you have it on, but as you can see, I’m just showing off what my momma gave me! This is a size 24 and it was definitely a tighter fit, not enough to size up though unless you’re on the higher end of a 24. It was just the right amount of tight to keep the girls in place and I really didn’t notice the tightness when it was on, I didn’t feel restricted at all. This daring suit also comes in a fiery red!

Curvy Kate

Curvy Kate Onyx Black Stripe Plunge Tankini – £32 Top, £14 Pants

The last CK Tankini I had was a really tight fit but in a good way, I looked and felt amazing and was definitely going to stay in place. So with that in mind, I decided to ask for a back size up and it didn’t go well for me! This Onyx set is very true to size and came up way too big on me in a 44G, I should really be in a 40GG/42G and you can definitely see where the bust gapes. I really love the style of this set as it’s really simple yet it looks great on. The pants for this set do come up extremely small (I’m wearing a 24) and I did battle to keep my lady area covered, so I’d definitely size up if you can. I always have to have a CK set for my holidays as the swimwear is always so striking and pretty.

Curvy Kate

Viva Voluptuous

Mermaid Plus Size Tankini Top – £38, Mermaid Plus Size Bikini Bottoms – £14

There’s no question about it, yes, you do need this set. As soon as I saw the preview for this set, I knew I needed it. It’s truly one of the prettiest swimwear pieces I’ve ever owned! Unfortunately, I did do it again and ordered a back size or two bigger, thinking it would fit better with it being swimwear. Viva Voluptuous is VERY true to size, do not size up at all. Even the pants are the best fitting brand I’ve come across in a while, the knickers I have from them are amazingly comfortable and roomy. I’m wearing a 42G which did give me a very strong cone look from the side. Think Madonna. The tankini pants are really great, they fit so well and are quite high waisted. If I would have got this set in my size, I’d probably walk around the house in it. It’s a solid 10/10 set for price, quality, and fit.
