The Botanist Sheffield
Yesterday was my 4th visit to The Botanist Sheffield and by far the best. Not that I’ve had a bad visit, but this one just really stood out for so many reasons. The Botanist Sheffield is one of the prettiest restaurants in the city, it looks like it’s from a fairytale. It’s mystical, magical looking and everywhere is photography worthy. The best place to sit is definitely at the round table, with the butterfly chandelier, surrounded by glass windows in a little enclosure. It’s kind of like having a private dining table in the middle of the restaurant and I squealed with excitement when Lily lead us over to the table after a very warm welcome.
The Botanist has a complete new menu for Spring 2018 with brand new items on it, as well as old favourites being retweaked and improved. Our main waiter, Cam seemed to know the new menu inside and out. He recommended things we didn’t even think about and was probably one of the best waiters I’ve ever come across. Funny, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. From Cam’s recommendation, we started with a Meat & Fish Deli Board to share. We had Homemade Scotch Egg, Spiced Sausage Rolls, Prosciutto, Smoke Mackerel Pâté, and Salt brisket of beef with gherkin. He said about adding another starter to make sure we were all happy and we definitely were as the Calamari was beautiful! Everyone was incredibly happy with the food, there were a lot of ‘mmmm’s, especially from my mum!
For our main courses we all wanted to have something different despite liking so much of the same. Alfie went with a Flat Iron Steak Sandwich, it had whipped garlic goat’s cheese, chips, gravy, and fried onions. It looks awesome and apparently it tasted so too! Mum went with their famous kebabs and stuck with Chicken, despite the many mouth watering options. We didn’t realise that they pour garlic butter into the top of the kebab that they drips all the way down and onto your chips. Alfie got some amazing shots of that whilst mum and I stared at it with love heart eyes. Cam mentioned how great the new salads were and we all love having a side salad with our meals so we ordered a Chargrilled Romesco Chicken Salad and it was seriously as good as he said. A side salad is now a must when we next visit (as we’ll definitely be going back soon). As soon as I saw Paella on the menu, nothing else mattered. After booking our holiday just last week, I am already in Spanish mode! The Paella was delicious, I really loved it. It was one of those meals where we actually didn’t share at all because we were all too into our own food. I’d easily order the Paella again, and make a trip to The Botanist Sheffield just for the Paella too.
We weren’t too advertnous with drinks this time as it was a school night, but if you read my previous review, Alfie and I tried a lot of different cocktails and found our favourites. I started with a Raspberry Disaronno Sour because the dry ice is SO much fun to watch and it tastes amazing. I later moved onto my other favourite, Grapefruit Rum Punch. I’m a rum girl.
By this point I think we were all ready for a food induced nap but for the blog, (technically we were working!?) we did desert. We barely made it to the end but they have a Chocolate Fondue, so that was a no brainer. With strawberries, brownies, krispie squares, and coconut balls, it was very tasty!
The Botanist Sheffield is so beautiful that I ended up doing a little mini shoot of my outfit whilst I was there, so you’ll be seeing that in an upcoming blog post soon. You could do a whole fashion shoot there to be honest, the decor is just so stunning! This restaurant really is an amazing addition to Sheffield and as soon as you experience it, you’ll not want to go anywhere else. We already can’t wait to go back!
