If they are happy with your form, you will get a call with no warning at all. Apparently, this is very difficult to pass. I was just about to get into the shower when they rang and I had a very bad attitude with them because I thought it was a call centre. Great start!
They asked the usual questions about my knowledge of the history of Benefit Cosmetics, products I use, what I think of the counter girls, and why I want to work for them. Step 3: Trial shift/Interview
It was a group interview that took place in a department store. We were asked to wear all black and flat shoes. We were taken to a tiny office where seven of us were crammed in to learn about the products. We found out about Potent eye cream and the Porefessional, which I actually still love.
Then came the “attack.” In my pair, I put the makeup on my partner first. She was natural looking and I didn’t go overboard. Then it was her turn. Personally, I am calling it sabotage, but the less paranoid half of me just thinks it was because I had so much makeup on to start with. After this girl had finished attacking my face, it was patchy, uneven, and she took half of my eyebrow off!

So what is traffic stopping? In a Benefit Cosmetics interview, it means walking all around the entire store and interrupting people whilst they are shopping for bikinis or handbags. You are actually meant to lightly touch their shoulder whilst saying “excuse me, I absolutely love your insert any old compliment here.”
It feels so fake and forced. If they say “no,” you are meant to act shocked. If they say “yes,” you are meant to instruct them to follow you. I managed to get around 6 customers back in 2 hours because I wanted to have a genuine conversation with people. I always pride myself on being genuine, and that is why I took my time. I felt like I was stalking my prey!
Step 5: The Sit-Down Interview
The end of my journey. Throughout the day we had been scored so they could see if we had enough “points” to get to the next level. The sit-down interview included really generic questions:

I answered quickly as I had retail experience, but I was told the next morning I was unsuccessful because it was “competitive.” Honestly, I could not do that all day every day. I felt so rude it was unbearable.
