Finally Trying Lady Voluptuous!

I’ve wanted to try out a Lady Voluptuous dress since the collaboration between Lady Vintage and Georgina Horne first launched, and I’m so glad that I finally have.

Already I’ve found my perfect style of dress from them and I’ve completed fallen in love. The Lyra is probably one of the most comfortable fitting but utterly beautiful dresses that I’ve seen in a long time. They’re all vintage looking with a flared 1950s skirt, a v neck bust, and a tie at the back to pull in your waist more if you desire.

My first Lyra is from the Yours Clothing range and I asked for a size 22/24. Ideally, I wanted a solid 22 as I don’t mind these types of dresses being a little more fitted around my top end, but they turn into duo sizes after a 20. Thankfully the fit looks amazing anyway but I’m definitely thinking about stitching the V-neck a tad higher and maybe turning it into a sweetheart’s neck. At £45 a dress I did think that perhaps they were overpriced but after trying one out, it’s a very stretchy material, the kind that isn’t going to pull or fade over time. I can imagine them wearing really well and I look forward to wearing mine a lot. I’ve already bought another one (the Sapphire Rose from the Lady V website) for my holiday next week and I’m really excited to wear it.

The Estrella is also a super comfortable dress, and this Panda Estrella Dress certainly isn’t something I thought I’d ever been wearing. I didn’t know there was a want for Pandas on dresses but they made it! It’s a completely different fit and style, the arms on the 22/24 are very snug, I felt as if I was wearing shapewear for my arms, not necessarily in a bad way, but in a very noticeable ‘the fat on my arms is in a different place’ way.

The bust is a little too high for my liking and I do feel kind of frumpy in this, even when wearing a ‘big girl’ bra, but it’s a great style for those who want to cover up. The waist had a lot of extra material and it definitely needs belting to stop the pattern from looking weird. It’s a great length though and I loved how floaty and full the skirt is.
