Le Basile Hotel Paris Wheelchair Accessible Room
Finding a genuinely wheelchair-accessible hotel in Paris was beyond a challenge and it nearly made me postpone our trip again. As an ambulatory wheelchair user, I don’t need all the added accessibility in a room, I just need a room big enough to store and charge my wheelchair, but it felt impossible to find. I also really wanted somewhere that actually felt like I was in Paris which a lot of people told me to give up on, that was until I found Le Basile Hotel Paris.
So many places claimed to be accessible but had steps, tiny lifts, or awkward layouts that would have made our stay difficult. After endless searching, I decided to focus on finding a hotel in a great location instead, hoping I’d stumble across something that we could make work. I loved the look of Le Basile Hotel Paris, went to book, and that’s when I saw their PRM room listing on booking.com, what luck! I booked it straight away.

How to find a wheelchair accessible room in Paris?
A top tip when looking for accessible rooms is to search using the term that the French use: PRM room, meaning “persons with reduced mobility.” If I had known this sooner, it would have made it a lot easier. It’s also a good idea to book with free cancellation and contact the hotel to make sure they can cater for your needs.
The first hotel we booked told us that it wasn’t an accessible room and that they could move us to a smaller accessible room if we wanted. We decided that the location wasn’t right but appreciated the quick response so it’s definitely worth reaching out with your questions and accessibility needs.
Le Basile Hotel Paris
The location of Le Basile Hotel Paris couldn’t have been better. We were within easy reach of so many fantastic places like the Palais Garnier and the Galeries Lafayette. Whether we wanted to explore on foot or hop on the Big Bus Tours bus, it was really easy to get around. Despite being so central, the hotel itself felt tucked away from the hustle and bustle, offering a calm retreat after a day of sightseeing. There were plenty of places to eat on our street too, mostly lunch-time places, but a fantastic bakery too called Odettes. It was a one way street, so there wasn’t much traffic.
Upon entering through the level access, automated entrance door, you immediately felt at ease, realising how easy it was going to be getting around. There was even an accessible toilet in the lobby for use before or after your stay, which was so appreciated and fantastic to see.

Our Stay in the PRM Room
As an ambulatory wheelchair user, Le Basile Hotel Paris exceeded my expectations in every way. They only have one wheelchair-accessible PRM room, and from the moment we arrived, it was clear that this space had been designed with real thought and care.
Honestly, they could make accessible hotels their business, they really do care and put in so much effort.
The room was incredibly spacious, with more than enough space to comfortably manoeuvre my wheelchair. One of my favourite touches was the plug socket right next to the door, perfect for charging my chair without having to stretch cords awkwardly across the floor. Small details like this make such a difference, and it was clear that accessibility had been considered in every aspect of the room’s design.
Thoughtful Design and Accessibility Features
The fully accessible bathroom was another highlight. It had everything you’d need, from grab bars to a well-designed roll-in shower with a sturdy shower seat and excellent water pressure. The bathroom was also spotlessly clean, and throughout our stay, the housekeeping team kept it in pristine condition.
Speaking of comfort, the bed was a dream, he bedding was so nice! The staff had even lowered the bed earlier that morning after another guest struggled to transfer. It was a really lovely height and so comfortable.
Another fantastic feature was the accessible wardrobe handle, making it easy for wheelchair users to reach their clothes without struggling, as well as a low-down fridge and safe, so everything was within easy reach. It’s details like these that truly make a difference in an accessible room, and I was beyond impressed by how well thought-out everything was.
As an ambulatory wheelchair user with a chronic pain condition, I really appreciated the extra seat in the bathroom and next to the bed for dressing. I thought they were a really nice touch, but for full-time wheelchair users, you might find these in the way. Simply let Le Basile Hotel Paris know, and they’ll be able to accommodate.
Peace and Privacy
Le Basile Hotel Paris’ PRM room is located directly opposite the check-in desk in the lobby, so it’s extremely easy to get in and out of the room. At first, I wondered if noise would be an issue, but there’s a clever curtain by the door to block out any sound, not that there was much to begin with. The room has level access with huge windows that open for fresh air, protected by privacy glass from the outside.
A Spotless Stay
I can’t not without mentioning just how immaculate this hotel was. Our room was cleaned daily to an exceptional standard, with fresh towels, beautifully made beds, and everything left spotless each time we returned. You could really tell that cleanliness and attention to detail were top priorities for the staff. Since it’s a boutique hotel, there wasn’t an option to decline housekeeping while you were out, that just seemed to be the standard at Le Basile Hotel Paris. Honestly, it was so lovely to come back to a fresh room every day.
Le Basile Hotel Paris is hands down one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in. Everything about our stay was seamless, from the thoughtful room design to the perfect location and excellent service. Finding a genuinely accessible hotel in Paris can be tricky, but this one was an absolute gem and I truly think it will work for a lot of different disabilities and needs. Whether you’re a wheelchair user or simply looking for a beautiful, comfortable place to stay in the heart of the city, I can’t recommend Le Basile Hotel Paris enough.
Would I stay here again? Absolutely, in a heartbeat!
