Sykes Cottages – Old Corn Store Keighley
On arrival at the cottage we were shown around, and shown how things work, the cottage immediately made us feel right at home with the little homely and cute touches, giving the cottage lots of personality. I immediately eyed up the private hot tub whilst the sun gleamed on down, pretty much as soon as the beyond friendly owners left us to it, I was changed and up to my shoulders in bubbling hot water, ahhh if only I was still there now! The cottage on the outside doesn’t look like what you’d imagine a picturesque cottage to be, but the interior design, magically comfortable bed, swanky bathroom, and cosy living room definitely gave it the cottage feel. The balcony had a little table and chairs for two which overlooked the dales and the rest of Cragghill’s grounds. We were right next to the Alpacas and Donkeys and couldn’t help but burst out laughing every time we heard them, especially the peacocks. I can’t quite say why, but we actually really enjoyed the noises of nature and the animals, there’s something therapeutic about it.The cottage had almost everything you could need, including biscuits, milk, salt, sugar, coffee, tea, champagne for the ‘hot tub experience’ and handy toiletries. If I’m perfectly honest, and I always am, the only thing it was missing is a washing machine for week long stays, but apart from that, it had everything and more. As the site listed that the wifi doesn’t always connect to devices, it was too risky to stay a week and work from there, especially with both me and Alfie having internet based jobs…that would have been a quiet week. Thankfully, we did connect 2/3 devices and the pressure was completely off, which meant I happily woke up early one morning and wrote two blog posts whilst having an amazing view of the Dales.
We did venture off into Keighley but only for a couple hours as we had everything back at the cottage. The owners even brought us round fresh eggs from their hens which were absolutely delicious! Keighley is such a quaint and pretty place that we ended up having a little stroll to experience it, if we ever go again we would definitely head out for longer as there’s a lot to see, and a lot of amazing looking places to eat at!
With Sykes Cottages, they make it super easy to find out exactly what cottage would be perfect for you. For us, it was something close by, close to the station, in a quiet village, and preferably with a hot tub for my back and they ticked all of the boxes. It cost us a grand total of £24 for two people there and an open return back on the train, which nobody can complain at. Old Corn Store is an absolutely amazing place to stay and I would definitely go back in a heartbeat, but maybe stay at the cottage next door instead. Simply as, the hot tub overlooks the Yorkshire Dales with fairly lights on top, and it means we could take friends with us too!
The choice of places to stay on Sykes Cottages really is amazing and if you can drive, the opportunities are endless. The prices are affordable and very competitive, the search bar makes life so much easier and there’s so many options of amenities such as hot tubs, games rooms, swimming pools that you can really find the perfect place for you.
Thank you so much Sykes Cottages and Old Corn Store, we had an amazing weekend!
