I’m not really a big fan of Summer for more reasons than I care to list, so the only consolation for me, is shopping for maxi dresses. I recently received this beautiful leopard print maxi dress from Yours Clothing* and I can already tell that it’s going to be my favourite item to wear. I’ve pretty much been in and out of an obsession with leopard print for as long as I can remember, sooner or later it will take over me completely. But seen as I usually just wear black and the tiny bit of white now for work, it meant that my wardrobe has been lacking this sassy print. As soon as I saw the dress, I knew I had to have it. The neck did originally have quite a plunging V neck, but seen as I was having a ‘feel bigger than I actually am’ day, I did request a size bigger than I usually would buy from Yours Clothing, a 22, meaning it was very gaping on my chest area. Which would have been perfect if I was planning to flash people all day long. However, being the classy and demure young lady that I am, I decided to save all the hassle of swapping the size, and just to customise it slightly.
I took the plunging neck and stitched it into a more ‘sweet heart’, grecian type of neck line which I find suits me much better and allows me to remain covered up. The 22 dress seemed to fit so loosely yet really enhanced my curves. I find that Yours Clothing always has amazing quality fabric, but for Summer down, that can be a downside with it being so thick and heavy. However, sizing up really worked to my advantage here as it was just enough room to allow ventilation so I didn’t pass out. Although I’d definitely say with this dress that you can stay true to your actual size. It has a built in belt, which means this is probably the first time in years I’ve left the house without a belt on. It didn’t seem to look right and the built in one really pulled in my waist enough already. For the dresses quality and diversity, the £35 price tag isn’t much at all. (Remember you can get £10 off with any £20+ spend with code: BLOGGER3′.
I found it was a perfect way to coax me into Summer wear, a slightly dressier outfit and of course, my beautiful and beloved Black Lace Edge To Edge Jacket at £30, which is also from Yours Clothing. I actually have 2 of the same jacket as I honestly don’t know what I would wear without it, it’s beyond amazing with it’s incredible waterfall, slimming cut, to it’s ability to make anything casual look dressy. Although, I will warn you all if you do buy this jacket, try not to over wash it, I have had to take several back because of them shrinking in the washing machine. However, seen as I love it so much, it’s never put me off. As I said, my favourite Summer outfit yet and it’s the first one I’ve put together!
This photo made me laugh, it just shows how much I like to blend in and not stand out. Spot the GG.
