For longer than I can remember, I have wanted to own some type of vintage styled dress. I’ve always loved the vintage look, and occasionally attempt it myself, so I was over the moon to finally get to work with Voodoo Vixen again. We had already worked together before where I styled one of their bags in my own modern vintage way. Voodoo Vixen are well known for their beautiful Vintage dresses, and this year they launched a plus size range that is absolutely beautiful and has definitely gained an amazing reputation already.
I was recently sent the stunning Hattie Dress* in a 4XL. I did size up as I’ve heard they do come up a little tight and I definitely agree. The 4XL was almost perfect, but it was a tad snug on my 40FF chest and I ended up looking a little squashed….. With my pale skin and bright red hair, obviously bright pink isn’t a colour I can pull off too well. Ideally I would have gone for the Penny, the beautiful dark green version, but it was unfortunately out of stock at the time.
To my absolute surprise, I found myself more comfortable and, in my opinion, I think I look better in the dress with literally no other clothes or accessories, except heels. Which is how most people would probably wear this dress anyway. The Hattie Dress feels incredible on and is very fitted at the waist which helps to create a curvy silhouette. With it’s tie-able detail at the front it allows you to show a tiny little bit of cleavage, perfect for people like myself who rarely hide it away. The Hattie dress actually has a zipper down the side, making it very easy to get on and off, but it’s not so easy if you don’t realise this until you’re fighting to get a boob out, one at a time. Tried and tested just for you all, and clearly not because I didn’t notice.
This dress makes me feel so ladylike and elegant, it’s definitely something that I would wear when wanting to impress, or just when having a fancy day. Of course, even the most ladylike of women slip up whilst posing….
But I managed to compose myself and steady my ankles to stay upright for a couple more photos. I do quite like laughing at myself.
On my 5’3 frame the dress comes to just below my knee, making it a lovely length to bare my legs. I imagine on a taller frame that the dress would look incredible at knee length too. Of course with this dress you could add a petticoat for that extra volume, however I am yet to add one to my wardrobe. at £65.99 it’s definitely a pricey dress, but for the quality of the material, and the fact that you can wear it whatever season, or year, I think it’s a great investment.
After my incredible luck winning Best Fashion Blog at the Plus Size awards, I wanted to wait a while before my big announcement, but after now booking the train tickets, I think it’s time…….I am going to be modelling Voodoo Vixen’s latest Plus Size Range! I cannot describe how excited I am and I can’t wait to show you all!
What do you think to Voodoo Vixen’s Plus Size Range?
