Vivienne Westwood Boudoir Perfume

My favourite types of perfumes are ones that I can put on throughout the day to make myself feel ‘pretty’, and ones I can wear at night that make me stand out. Floral but seductive are normally the scents I go for, but I only have a couple perfumes that I continuously buy. However, I am looking to branch out and was recently contacted by Harvey Nichols to try out Vivienne Westwood’s Boudoir. Before the recent campaign with Vivienne and Lush, I wasn’t really aware of her ethics or her as a person. I just knew her as the designer who made the beautiful wedding dress in Sex and The City (it’s bad, I know). Now, I think she’s a wonderful, interesting and an overall fantastic human being. Her designs are beautiful, including her perfume bottles, which by the way, looks adorable on my shelf.

Vivienne Westwood Boudoir Perfume

I immediately get the smell of the roses with this perfume, but it’s not like your usual overly sweet rose, it’s more like a deep and musky smelling one. A lot more sophisticated. The layers of notes in this perfume is quite complex as it’s not what you expect at all. It was inspired my intimacy and warm skin, which can be a little ambiguous as it’s meant to be sexy and seductive, however I feel more cosy and calm with it. The smell at first is a little unusual and over powering, but it settles into a beautiful soft scent. My mum has had this on the last couple days and it makes me just want to cuddle her, for that reason I know see it as a Summer’s Day perfume where you want to smell like a field of flowers, or a ‘mummy perfume’, where you need comforting and to feel loved.

According to The Perfume Shop the notes, which are layers of the perfume that you’ll be able to smell at different points, are:
Heart Notes: Carnation, jasmine, rose, narcissus, cardamom, coriander, orris.
Top Notes: Bergamot, hyacinth, marigold, orange blossom, aldehydes.
Base Notes: Cinnamon, vanilla, sandalwood, patchouli, tobacco blossom.

Currently Vivienne Westood’s Boudoir at Harvey Nichols is £38 for 30ml. You can also see the rest of Vivienne Westwood’s Brand and the nearest shops who stock it.
