The Botanist Sheffield
My first experience with The Botanist Sheffield before this full sit down review, was nipping in during a day drinking session with my mum and foolishly ordering a lavender cocktail. We’re big lavender fans, but not when it’s in food or drink, so it didn’t leave a good taste in my mouth, quite literally. I’ve seen snippets and different photos of the restaurant upstairs, but I really didn’t realise just how beautiful it was. I mean they should seriously think about hiring it out for shoots, every corner is photograph-worthy and utterly breathtaking. I’ve completely changed my mind about The Botanist Sheffield and after asking for recommendations based on my favourite cocktails, our lovely waitress steered me down the best cocktail journey. Meanwhile, Alfie was living it up as they have a fancy little book with incredibly fancy beers, I don’t think I’ve seen Alfie so happy before. I had to photograph every single beer, I took a live review of him trying out a new beer on Instagram, and took some fancy shots so he can talk about them more too. It’s safe to say that we had a very lovely time.
Leopard Square is a great place to go for food and drinks, there’s so much choice and having The Botanist Sheffield newly set up there really was the perfect spot for it. It’s a bar downstairs and a very glamorous restaurant upstairs. You haven’t seen quirky until you’ve been here. Everywhere is so well thought out and seriously one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. We started off with Gambas Pil Pil, which was utter perfection, and Homemade Scotch Egg, with a runny yolk.
We were impressed from the get go but our mains were definitely the best. Alfie ordered the 10 oz steak with a Beetroot Salad and Mash Potato, and I wanted to try out one of their ‘famous’ screwers so I ordered the Pork Belly and Sweet Potato Fries. Our mains weren’t exactly hot, but they were really tasty so we didn’t mind at all.
For desert, our wonderful waitress recommended the Cookie Dough and oh my god, it was incredible. Probably the best desert I’ve ever had in a restaurant! Warm cookie dough with ice cream is normally amazing but this was next level. Alfie had the Banana Split and that was delicious judging by how fast he ate it.
The winners were:
Homemade Scotch Egg
Pork Belly Screwers
And the best cocktail by far was the Raspberry Disaronno Sour. Probably one of the best cocktails I’ve ever tried. It was super sweet, heavy on the alcohol, and the drama of the dry ice? Perfection! A close second and a worthy opponent was the Grapefruit Rum Punch. I could easily drink them both all day long!
Not that any of this was a competition, but we just wanted to share our favourites. We’ll definitely be going back to The Botanist Sheffield for cocktails and food. I love that with it being a new build, it’s really catered for disabled people with a decent sized lift, and plenty of seating choices. We felt really comfortable and that’s not something I always have in restaurants now.
It was the first outing since being back from holiday and my pain levels have been so intense that I just wanted to throw something on. I wasn’t expecting it to become one of my most liked outfit photos on Instagram, but clearly people love this Yours Clothing Grey Floral Print Slinky Stretch Maxi Dress as much as me. I’m wearing a size 22, and I’ve altered the top slightly to be more of a sweetheart style as that makes my boobs look better. No shame! I think £36.99 is a great price for it, as it’s definitely going to last a while and stay in good quality. I have it in blue too as I just loved the style so much, I knew I’d get a lot of wear out of them. The cardigan is also Yours Clothing, these types of cardigans are so essential for Summer. I through them on with anything and everything. Plus at £17.99, they’re a great price.
The bag is Joanie Clothing, I adore it so much!
