Spring 2016 trends – top fashion accessories!

Even though I don’t really follow the trends, I always love to know what they are. Just in case I feel like playing pro fashion blogger one day.

Spring is the time that we break free of the winter wardrobe and start to look forward to the warmer days of summer, even I’m excited this year. Spring is the perfect time to ditch the big jumpers and coats but, with temperatures still being a little chilly, layering with jackets and cardigans etc. is a way of keeping those chills at bay.

As wholesale clothing suppliers, Eles Clothing also think that accessories from jewellery to bags should be something you offer the on-trend customer. But what are the hot trend tips for spring 2016?

#1 Bright bags

The latest catwalk shows were full of bright bags this season. Blue is a great colour for spring but if you want to throw off the grey of winter, choose a wholesale clothing supplier that stock plenty spring colours for bags and other accessories too.

All the big designer labels included bright, primary colours in their collection including a beautiful red bag from Prada.

The must-have size seemed to be really big bags or, if you want something a little smaller, opt for the round bowling bag and still in a bright colour.

#2 Tiaras and hair accessories

Tiaras can be a difficult accessory to wear, either associated with over-the-top regal head wear, wedding accessories or suitable for little girls aspiring to the princess look.

However, the grown up woman now has an excuse for wearing tiara and a multitude of hair accessories this spring. From alice bands to tiaras, there really is something for every occasion.

Opt for the glitter of diamantes, or for a more cutting edge look, choose a designer piece of head gear. There were also nods toward brass and Roman inspired head pieces too.

#3 Slouchy bags

The sloughy bag has made a real impact on the catwalks with virtually all designers including them in their spring 2016 collections.

However, there is, as you would expect, some delightful twists. The slouch bag can be worn on the shoulder or, as many designers chose to show them, as a big, clutch bag.

Also making a comeback was the backpack but without the sporty look. Material and canvas checked back packs were featured in some collections, giving a slightly dressier air to an informal bag. Keep an eye out with wholesale clothing suppliers for check and dog tooth patterned backpacks.

#4 Statement earrings

On the catwalk most of the models wore statement earrings. Bold in shape, colour and design, it seems that 2016 will be the year that the must-have accessory is the larger than life earring.

The earrings need to be long and big, and very noticeable compared to the rest of the outfit. They can shine and dazzle, or be made from plastic, fabric and more.

Take a leaf out of Beyoncé’s book and stick with the dazzling delight of big earrings.

#5 Chockers

As for necklaces and adornment of the neck goes, the chocker necklace is the must-have shape and style.

From large stone and leather chockers, to pretty diamantes, there was a chocker necklace featured in most designer catwalk shows.

#6 Embellished handbags

A surprising return to the catwalk but it just goes to show that you never know when a trend will re-appear.

Handbags will all kinds of embellishments, from initial to flowers to abstract shapes promise to be big news in women’s accessories this spring. Gucci and Marc Jacobs both went for animal prints with embellishments, with Channel and Valentino opting for heavily patterned bags (both often matching their garments).

#7 Body chains

Another surprise addition and one that lovers of the bo-ho style will love is the body chain. Thin and chunky chains were part of the accessories that set off the overall look. Interesting to note was that most designers used them over plan clothing or deep V cut tops or dresses. I’ve seen a lot of this in the plus world and I really want to try it myself!

Get ahead with some great spring 2016 inspired accessories

As well as these seven suggestions, it seems the accessory tipped for great things in the coming spring is the wicker bag. Any shape goes, from small clutch bags to mini-picnic baskets to oval, beehive shape wicker bags.

  • These all sound a little bit attention grabbing, so I’ll probably just stick with the slouchy bags. I looove slouchy bags, they are so spacious and functional(?) don’t know if that’s the word I meant though….

  • I love chokers but I do sometimes have difficulty finding them as a plus-size girl with quite a chubby neck! Most of them either cut off my blood supply or make me feel like I’m being strangled so I tend to avoid them, but I might have to try a bit harder to find one seen as they’re now a trend xx

  • So I really want a brightly coloured bag – I think that will happen. I also love the idea of wearing more hair accessories but I just don’t think I’m that cool!
