This is another one of those posts where GG just isn’t impressed. By now I’m meant to have glorious, unblemished skin, but that just isn’t the case. Although I loved the Frezyderm sunscreen (read the post here) and primer, their acne face wash and moisturiser really didn’t do anything for me at all. Similarly a ‘ph balanced’ range called Sebamed didn’t really scare my spots off either. The treatment toner was fantastic at keeping my oily skin slightly more in control (as I am seriously oily) but the rest of the range did nothing. Obviously you all know by now that just because something didn’t work for me, it doesn’t mean it won’t work for you, it just means I’ll have some suggestions on better products to start with.
I’ve been trying these products out over the course of a couple months so I’ve really been able to see what’s helping and what’s not. When I originally took the photo it was for a monthly roundup post, hence the random eye makeup remover (which isn’t very good.)
Antipodes Reincarnation Pure Facial Exfoliator at £21.99
With avocado oil, jojoba beads, and healing calendula oil, it’s an extremely gentle scrub that you can use everyday that leaves your skin feeling lovely and soft, but it doesn’t do much for clogged pores as it’s not harsh enough.
Kypris Cleanser Concentrate at $64.00 (£50.00)
Moringa, Pear, and probiotics, this is another super soft and creamy way of cleansing your face but again it hasn’t helped out with my troubled skin. It has been nice to use in mornings, but it’s definitely not something to try and take your makeup off with or double cleanse with.
Eminence sent me the Clear Skin Starter Set which contains one-month’s supply of targeted organic products to treat oily and problem skin types. The set is £39 which I think is quite expensive for such a small set but I guess if it works for your skin, it’ll be worth it in the long run! I didn’t notice anything miraculous, I’m still waking up with spots every single morning no matter what but I did enjoy using the products.
Set Includes:
- Clear Skin Probiotic Cleanser (30 ml tube)
- Clear Skin Probiotic Moisturizer (15 ml tube)
- Clear Skin Probiotic Masque (15 ml jar)
- Clear Skin Willow Bark Booster-Serum (15 ml bottle)
I’ve actually found that using skincare for dryer skin has actually been more beneficial than products that are designed for my specific skin type. The brand I’ve had the most luck with has been the Avene Tolerance Extreme Masque 50ml at £15. Such a fantastic price for a product that has dramatic results after the first use. My skin felt so much softer, brighter and looked healthier immediately. It’s been my go-to for before makeup/events, to take travelling and to have next to me during the working days too. It only contains 7 ingredients and it has beyond impressed me. The Tolerance Extreme Creme 50ml, also at £15, contains 7 ingredients too and together they leave your skin looking amazing. I’ve reminded myself to buy some more as I’m running out!
Similar, but it didn’t have quite as good results for me, is the Yes To Coconut Skincare Range. The Ultra Hydrating Facial Souffle Moisturiser 50ml at £13 is meant to be a light cream but I did find it quite heavy. Perfect for dry skin to use on a day-to-day though. Obviously both this and the Ultra Hydrating Crème Cleanser 118ml at £8 both smell of coconuts. That’s the main thing I like about the Yes To Ranges, they all smell incredible. The cleanser is another super creamy one for the morning time but it’s definitely not someone with clogged skin should go near. I found it too heavy to cleanse my skin properly and felt like I needed something else to do the job properly.
Kiehl’s sent me over one of the limited edition MTV Staying Alive pots where £10 of every tub goes to three MTV projects with a focus on HIV-prevention in women and girls. I’ve always liked the very few Kiehl’s products I’ve tried but Alfie stole this straight away and he made it his everyday cream. He’s obsessed with Kiehl’s and absolutely loves this. Despite my post being SO behind, you can still grab a pot here.
Quick mentions….
I always dehair my face with mini razors but a couple months back I received a surprised parcel from Nair with some of their facial hair removing products. I love their Argan Oil range and I’ve found myself heading towards removal creams more and more rather than razors as they’re a lot easier with chronic pain. Nair is now my to-go choice! I can’t say I’m going to try the wax strips on my face anytime soon though, I don’t fancy the pain!
Lastly, Janina also sent me a surprise parcel a couple months back with a top up of products. I absolutely love their toothpastes, they’re some of the best I’ve ever tried but I was so excited to try out more of their range. The Instant White Teeth Whitening Spray is amazing to have in your bag for long days to freshen up, I’ve had it in my bag between meetings and I love how minty fresh is makes me feel. The Teeth Whitening Foam has also been great for an extra cleaning boost every now and again, it really does make your teeth look whiter instantly. I’ve tried a lot of teeth whitening brands but this is the one I always come back to.
