If I could relive this event again, I definitely would. I seem to be that stage in life where I just want to do anything and say yes to everything, so I jumped at the chance when Heather, Ashleigh and I were randomly offered a venue on Twitter, after sharing our desire to run our own event. We all had our ideas on how we wanted the event to go. For me, I wanted a small event where everyone would have time to talk and get to know each other, in a venue that genuinely wanted to be involved for all the right reasons, and brands that I know and love there. With Heather and Ashleigh being at College and working all the time, it meant that I did have to take on a lot of the work, but as I’m currently off sick for my shoulder, I loved the challenge and it gave me something to look forward to. Thankfully, Heather, Ashleigh, the brands involved and bloggers all seemed to love the event too!
Sheffield BBloggers Event (#SheffieldBBloggers
) ended up being held at a beautiful South India Restaurant, Maveli
, located right in the city centre. One of the Owners is a family friend and was more than happy to get involved, provide us with such a cosy venue and even set out an amazing taste experience where plates and plates of mouth watering food were laid out for us to try. It was amazing to see all the bloggers gather round and applaud the very talented chef who had cooked our delicious spread before diving in with their forks ready. The food not only looked gorgeous but Maveli definitely has to be the best Indian food I have ever tried!
Unfortunately, Lush Meadowhall (where I usually work) couldn’t attend the event but we still definitely wanted Lush to get involved. So, Lush Sheffield
came to the rescue and set out an amazing display of Festive goodies as well as all year round favourites. The 3 ladies who came were absolutely amazing, they were so friendly, lively and really helped to keep up the excited vibes throughout the event. Although they couldn’t stay the entire of the event (joys of the lead up to Christmas), they were teaching the bloggers how to make Ickle Baby Bot and giving them hand and arm massages. As always with blogger events, Lush’s presence is amazing and definitely something that always goes down as a big hit. When it was time for them to leave, they kindly left behind the rest of the product making kit which meant that I got to lead a little ‘science class’ as Kim so ‘sweetly’ called it and I taught the rest of the bloggers how to make their own bath bomb, which they were gifted by Lush Sheffield! The girls from Lush donated a huge £25 just between the 3 of them and managed to walk away with a Nourish Skincare Set from Nourish, a Chloe Perfume from Fragrance Direct and something else that I can’t actually remember. All of which were definitely well deserved from an amazing contribution and for being amazing in general!
With many events that I’ve attended, blogger and just beauty/fashion, there’s always a charity that they’re raising money for, but I rarely get to find out more about it unless I ask, so we wanted to change that. One night, I stumbled across Look Good Feel Better
on my Twitter Feed and instantly fell in love. I had been following them for a little while before planning the event and after researching more about them, they were perfect. Look Good Feel Better help cancer patients of all ages, look and feel good with the use of Cosmetics. The women are provided with ‘Confidence Kits’ which contain 19 products, all safe to use on more sensitive skin, and are shown how to draw on eyebrows and are taught how to deal with the side effects of treatments. It’s such a beautiful charity and when I got in touch, I was kindly passed onto one of Sheffield’s representatives, Jan. Jan has been volunteering at the charity for 19 out of 20 years that it has been running and her passion for the work that the charity and herself do is truly inspiring. After talking with Jan several times, I was determined to put on the best charity raffle to ensure we could raise an amazing amount for Look Good Feel Better. Jan also came along on the day and was lucky enough to win a Vivienne Westwood ring, donated by Silvertree Jewellery
! A well deserved prize for such an amazing woman. We managed to raise somewhere around £230-£250, I am unclear of the grand total as there were a few last minute donations straight from the blogger’s pockets, which as you can imagine, was beautiful to see.
After working at the Fruition Event with Kim from Boudoir Salon Sheffield before, I knew she HAD to be at our event. Kim is the main HD Brow trainer in Sheffield and after you see her in action, there’s no wondering why. Whilst showing the bloggers how to thread and teaching them all about it, she was also offering out free HD Brow Treatments, which usually cost around £30+ each! Kim had a queue from the minute I announced her arrival, as well as a crowd of people asking her questions, getting involved and generally loving watching her incredible work. Her skills are beyond words and everyone who left her chair seemed over the moon at the results. Hayley already had pretty amazing brows, but I definitely think hers were my favourite in the end! Kim also won a couple of prizes from the raffle which were greatly deserved for keeping the bloggers so entertained! I couldn’t imagine the event without her.
The event as a whole was a really chilled out atmosphere where we wanted people to get out their goody bags, play with the amazing contributions and get to know a little more about the products inside and the companies. So, we really encouraged people to put on lipsticks (especially Serpent from Makeup Revolution
, who sent the most amazing parcel ever!). I also thought it would be a fun idea to bring my own collection of wigs and fancy dress items to have a silly photoshoot! The most popular wig was definitely the beautiful Marie wig from Annabelle’s Wigs
. It looked amazing on everybody, as pretty much everyone tried it on! There were also recent collaboration items from Ann Summers, which were equally as hilarious, especially when I encourage Lucy to wear saucy demon wings.
The event then drew to a close but not before the lovely owner of Flurt walked in with some last minute sweets and discount cards! Flurt is the frozen yoghurt shop in Sheffield that after you try it, you don’t stop talking about. The bloggers each grabbed a packet before saying their goodbyes and heading off home.
It was an absolutely amazing day, with incredibly brands, a beautiful charity and the best of all, the friendliest bunch of beauty bloggers ever! It was nice hearing that the bloggers had the chance to talk to each other and make new friends, as well as take some pretty amazing photos in wigs and wings. This was just my post to introduce the event as a whole, the next instalment is going to be all about the brands involved and the goodie bag! Thank you to all who came, I really do hope you had a day to remember!
(Most photos in this post have been taken by the wonderful Amy from Von Dork
as I was a little too excited to get overly arty, thanks Amy!)
