I’m absolutely kicking myself that I never knew of Shea Moisture before now, like how can I not!? I dye my hair CONSTANTLY and suffer from damaged hair from time to time. I’m only lucky now I work from home and I don’t necessarily need to style it with heat everyday, unless I’m travelling that is and then it needs major TLC. I’ve always loved a hair mask but I’ve just noticed more and more how much of my colour runs out after a mask, thankfully that’s not the case with Shea Butter.
I’ve been using two different ranges, the Superfruit Complex 10-in-1 Multi Benefit and the Raw Shea Butter, both have gave me incredible results. The Superfruit Complex 10-in-1 really explains itself but still, I shall tell you more….
To start with Shea Moisture is an award-winning, natural range that was developed originally for afro hair in 1912, but has now made several ranges that can work for any type of hair, especially specialising in dry/damaged hair. The 10-in-1 range does multiple things including renewing vibrancy, it helps to protect colour, hydrates the hair, softens it and nourishes it from deep within.
This Superfruit Complex 10-in-1 Multi-Benefit Hair Masque (at £12.99) is perfect for those of us who dye their hair, possibly more than we should, and it helps by being an intensive antioxidant treatment with anti-aging benefits. It works best if you use it once a week, but definitely use it more if you need it. It’s a mix of ‘Red Raspberry Ketone, Goji, Acai and Guava Extracts’ all which are rich in anti-aging antioxidants. The Marula Oil inside helps the hair’s elasticity and the Biotin nourishes every single strand to make the hair feel thicker and stronger overall.
It’s another mask that is meant to be used on wet hair, but we all know how much I hate that idea. Brands must say it because hot steam opens up the hair cuticle but I always apply my masks on dry hair and sit in a hot bath, it just makes a lot more sense to me. You’re meant to brush this mask through and leave it for 5 minutes, or cover your hair with a plastic cap and apply a low heat for 30 minutes, again to open the cuticle. Used alongside the Conditioner and you’ll have healthier hair in a matter of washes.
It’s so easy to see how moisturising these products are when you use them on their own but when they’re used from other products in the same range, WOW, your hair is so soft in a matter of minutes. I tried to wash off a different hair mask using the Raw Shea Butter range and just laughed at myself afterwards, a super moisturising masks with a moisturising shampoo and conditioner to get it off? Yeah, it didn’t work as well as I would have liked. However, that’s not a bad thing against the products at all, they’re an absolute dream on dry hair and I love how the shampoo is so gentle on my colour as it’s sulphate free!
This range is great for removing residue from the scalp with the Sea Kelp and cleansing the hair without taking away any oils or moisture. Not only that but it helps improve the elasticity to prevent breakage and restores shine. You can really feel how incredible this range is after just one wash. My hair is feeling better than ever and I’m really trying to hide it from everyone else in my bathroom, ha! The conditioner is actually so thick that I find it hard to pump with my lack of strength thanks to my back. This is actually a range that I’d definitely buy again, and I am beyond picky with my hair care.
