I really wanted to love the brand new Schwarzkopf LIVE Colour Refreshers at £4.99, but I don’t, at all. The Refresher for red shades is a red foam which is meant to keep hair bright and vibrant in-between of dyes but truthfully, I won’t even test it on my own hair. I know that sounds bad for my mum but she has red hair too and as I’m a little pinkier, I didn’t want to risk it in case I had the same outcome as when I use their permanent red dyes. See, there’s a reason why I now use semi-permanent and that’s because whenever I went to use a box red, even my old favourite L’oral Feria – they’d either turn me ginger, or worse…..a dark, barely noticeable red. Schwarzkopf was the worst for ruining all my hard work of lightening my hair over time and so now, I only use semi permanents which you can read about HERE.
As soon as I saw the bright orange colour of the foam I knew it was time to abort the mission. Knowing my mum was dyeing her hair the next day, we bravely put it on anyway and got the inevitable results, ginger. Not that there’s anything wrong with ginger but when you’re bright red, this isn’t exactly what you want. Although, it’d be perfect for natural reds, or people who are dyeing their hair ginger, or even brunettes who want a hint of ginger.
It does come in Cool Blonde, Warm Brown, Cool Brown, Red Shades but I obviously don’t recommend this for red hair like mine. You’re meant to use these on damp hair and only leave them on for 3 minutes, I’d definitely leave the brunette and red shades on for longer but if you’re using the blonde you can’t leave it for more than 5 otherwise you might end up with blue hair.
At a fiver you can afford to try them for yourself as it’s not a lot of money at all. The Schwarzkopf LIVE Colour Refreshers are available from Boots, Superdrug, Tesco and Savers from February 2016, Sainsbury’s from March 2016 and Asda from April 2016.
