One of my recent travels to London was kindly arranged and paid for by TKMaxx, as I was invited along to a Plus Size Focus Group. As it would have been my first time in London at that point, TKMaxx said that I was more than welcome to bring someone along with me, so obviously I took Marie, my Mum. Now I realise that might make me sound a little bit of a child, but my Mum and me are basically the same person, and she’s more like a Sister/Best Friend to me. Often than not her company is enjoyed more than myself and it was lovely to have her there with me. As part of the day we took part in TKMaxx’s Me by Me campaign where we described what our style was, for mine I put ‘flowing and glamorous’. This meant that we headed off to SOHO square to take some fancy photos, this did leave my hair a little deflated though….(All photos were taken my TK Maxx).
I was very excited to wear my new Scarlett and Jo Crochet Collar Tunic at £38* from their La Dolce Vita Collection. My wardrobe was in dire need of dressy casual dresses, as I really do not do casual very well, so I was very excited to receive this to review. For me ‘casual’ means full hair, a fancy outfit and a nude lipstick instead of my usual Mac Diva, so I did make an effort to look more day-time appropriate.
Scarlett and Jo’s Dolce Vita Collection has definitely been my favourite collection, SO far. I say so far as if you haven’t seen on my Facebook, Twitter, or Tumblr, as I’ve literally posted it everywhere, Scarlett and Jo have designed the most beautiful dress for me in their Valentine’s Day Collection! After meeting with Designer Gifi, we started talking about dresses, colours and materials and not long after I had the most stunning design in my emails, which you can go have a sneaky peak at on Scarlett and Jo’s Tumblr! Whilst I calm myself from the excitement, I’ll stay focussed on their current stunning collection.
The Crochet Collar Tunic is a very easily worn dress that it’s perfect for that everyday feminine and glamorous look. I had my eyes on it for a little while, and as I rarely wear anything that doesn’t show most of my womanhood, it was a nice little change to be that touch more covered up. It is now available in multiple colours, including a beautiful red, navy, black and the purple which I have. I asked for the dress in a 22 as I did want it to be a little loose, this size is perfect for me as it is rather fitted on the waist, meaning I can get away without a belt. I attempted to team this with a mediocre bra and waist belt, however without constant adjustment, the nightmare of looking frumpy was very much a reality. I learnt the hard way, but the next time I wore much better lingerie, and left the belt at home. I felt amazing in this dress.
Fortunately, this isn’t the only dress I have from the Dolce Vita Collection as I also have the stunning Velvet number, and another dress that will be coming up shortly….
Have you picked up anything from this range yet?
