The Sun keeps on briefly appearing and for the first time in literally forever, I’ve actually been excited for and decided to embrace it. Usually when it’s Summer time, I’ll simply shut the curtains to block the sun, open a window for a breeze and carry on with life on my computer. This year at the first sign of a sunny weekend, I was packed to go with my Summer dresses, sunblock, and plenty of alcohol! To be honest, it wasn’t even that warm and I didn’t need the sunblock, but at least I looked and felt pretty! Scarlett & Jo’s Blue Print Maxi Dress (£75) wasn’t something I loved when I first saw it on the hanger, and it wasn’t until a good bra, my favourite shapewear and a belt later than I realised I actually do love it.
The Scarlett And Jo Blue Print Maxi Dress comes in both red and blue, and obviously I went for blue to share with you all. The dress has a perfect V neck to ensure that bigger or smaller busts still look absolutely amazing. The short sleeves and shoulder pads do cover up the tops of your arms, and the sheerness and lightness of them actually makes me feel a lot more covered up than I am. As I always mention, I do keep my arms covered due to skin conditions, not because they’re fat and fabulous….
In case it isn’t too clear, the dress does indeed have a very high side split, we’re talking mid thigh, but don’t worry. It’s a very cleverly ruffled front detail which means despite the split being so high, only a little of your calf actually comes out, even in the wind. I absolutely loved this as it’s so lightweight and breezy on your legs whilst still keeping you covered up if the wind attacks, of if you’re a little conscious of getting them out like I sometimes can be. On the Evans model on the site, I must admit I think it looks rather large on her and unflattering and it doesn’t assecuate any of her curves, which is what Scarlett & Jo’s dresses are known to do. Being a now large 20 in their dresses, it ensured that it was a snug and comfortable fit that I’m really happy with as it shows off my figure and doesn’t make me feel frumpy.
Scarlett & Jo maxis on me are always an amazing length, probably better with a little heel though as they’re normally made for someone who is 5’8/5’9. I love the fact they still fit my short length without drowning me in material though as people always see that as a problem for us shorter girls, but I don’t! I decided to add a belt to break up the pattern a little and help draw in my waist as I did have a tad extra material around there, which ideally could do with taking in a tad. The dress has a slightly tighter inner lining that doesn’t stretch, so if you want a snug and figure hugging fit like me, stick to your size definitely.
These photos were just some of many taken on this hot day at Alfie’s house and a little Capri-Sun break was well needed….blogging is hard work!*Even though I am the Face of Scarlett & Jo and I do receive all of their collection to wear and review if I please, I am still completely honest in my reviews, if I don’t like the look of something, or how it is, I can and will say!
