I know, it’s seriously mind blowing isn’t it? There’s actual quotes and gifs on the Internet that DON’T offend anyone! Don’t worry though, I know for some reason all of your social media people have only been able to stumble across the same body shaming photos for those most wanted, ‘relatable’, content fillers, so I’ll make this easier for you. You see, I actually work in social media too and you know what I do when I come across some body shaming or diet culture inspired quote photo? I find a different photo. Yes, even if it’s in the brands folders as one to use. Why? Because whether you sell anything from socks, makeup, or indeed clothes, you don’t body shame your customers and as a professional that should KNOW social media and how it works, you should know this. Customers shockingly don’t like being insulted, who fucking knew!? I’ve searched high and low on the internet for a whole 2 minutes and found these, relatable, funny, and non offensive photos that you can use on your channels. Seriously, wise up. Content fillers like ‘relatable’ quotes are being used more and more across social media as it’s a fun break in the channels, some are cute and funny to see, some even may inspire, but when a makeup brand posts something with diet culture, or the ever favourite amongst body shamers, ‘no dog likes a bone’, it’s not acceptable. I don’t know why it’s so hard to see this?
Brands, we’re only a couple days in 2016, stop disappointing us.
