This is going to be quite a picture heavy post as last month I was lucky enough to grab a place at the PS Pre Party event, which was basically for Plus Size bloggers to get together before the main event of Plus North. Sarah from Sad Excuse for a Girl organised it and I was ever so excited to be attending. Leeds is now officially one of my favourite places to go for events, and just in general. It was at the Belgrave Music Hall and had everything from nails and makeup, right down to a Simply Be Catwalk! The lighting in the room wasn’t the best, and not being too clued up with my camera meant that my photos aren’t the best they could be, but I certainly did try.
The event started with some time where all the bloggers could get to know each other which I think is really important at events rather than just having speaker after speaker. Sarah then talked us through the event and everything that would be there, there was also the opportunity to have our nails done by Pastile Beauty Bar which I took advantage of and had gold glittery nails. The lady from there was absolutely delightful and made me feel really comfortable, I also got the chance to look at their beautiful shop in Leeds on their ipad and some designs they can do too. I was blown away by how amazing their shop looked and the elegant designs they can create! The first demonstration was a makeup artist and we all sat around on sofas and watched, it was very laid back like that. We all seemed to be silent whilst watching the MUA, I can’t say I was blown away but by now you all must know how picky I am….
Whilst watching the MUA, Lisa from GeekGirl-Plus stumbled across a blow up flamingo and proceeded to inflate it, I couldn’t help but take a picture.
Afterwards we had a talk from Daisy & Alice from ‘Roast & Conch’ which is the restaurant owned by Hotel Chocolate, it was a little long winded but rather interesting in places as we found out that they use chocolate in their recipes. We also found out that this often puts people off but everyone in the room seemed really interested and a little hungry from hearing about them. As well as that we got the chance to learn more about where they source their cocoa butter from and actually try a cocoa bean, I destroyed mine as I’m incredibly light handed. Then we got to sample some of the food which was rather delicious and beautifully presented. It was then time for a talk from Christina Hadjiioannou who sells Forever Living products, they all sounded beautiful and most importantly, natural. I was told about a miracle cream that could literally heal and solve most skin problems, something that everyone needs for sure. This may have to be my treat for next month. Christina was really friendly and had a lot of product knowledge, some people even got to try a shot of the cleansing drinks which to her surprise, most people liked!
During a little break we headed up to the amazing Roof garden and proceeded to take pictures in front of tens of people and draw attention to ourselves with oscar styled selfies.

I’m not as ‘down with the kids’ as I’d like to be, which is why I didn’t get excited like the other half of the room when ‘Lady Annie’ was giving a hair tutorial, she appeared on BBC Three Hair Stylist styling Yorkshire’s Ladies after being self taught and originally just doing hair for her friends and family. I really enjoyed this and loved her story as that’s really similar to myself and makeup. She did an amazingly job and explained everything really easily so even people who can only achieve two hairstyles like myself, could understand and recreate them. There was then a Catwalk of Simply Be, the lady from the Leeds store didn’t really stick around or try and talk to many of us, which was a real shame as events like these are great to network but the girls did look amazing. Sarah who is also Miss Leeds curve and who organised it was also a model and did an awesome job, alongside Sarah H (plus size model) and Jessica McCubbin (Miss East Yorkshire Curves 2014).
Overall I absolutely loved the event and meeting new people, there was also prizes given out and I won one for being the first person to get a ticket! I won a meal for two at The Alchemist which I’m really excited for. There were also Prizes from Harvey Nichols Leeds, The Botanist, and Roast & Conch as well as a voucher for 50% off at their restaurant in the goodie bag! It also contained a little goodie from ESPA. Thanks Sarah for organising everything, you did an amazing job and I hope you organise another!Hopefully this is everyone, but let me know if I missed you off….
