Pink Clove Black Velvet Empire Dress

Following on with my little Pink Clove haul (the first of which you can read here), I have found and now posses one of the comfiest dresses ever…. The Pink Clove Emmie Velvet Empire Dress at £22 won me over immediately, it was an instant ‘yes’ as soon as I saw it on the site and I couldn’t wait to try it on. I asked for this dress in a size 20, as that seems to be the perfect size for me now, however, this dress comes up quite big and therefore I had to size down again. I laughed at the thought of getting into an 18 after 2 years of outgrowing it, but the material is so comfortable that it fit like a glove and was very fitted in all the places I like it to be, such as my arms, waist and bust.

This dress has a wrap neckline which does mean it makes your boobs look fantastic when wearing the right bra, I really appreciated this whilst strolling around York on Valentine’s Day as it’s such a flattering neckline on me. The 3/4 sleeves allowed me to be comfortable all day long without having to adjust myself, which is a big must for me. When having a day out, I love to just have the one dress on and no cardigans, jackets etc to keep faffing around with or worry about. Of course, I had to stick a Yours Clothing waist belt on as it really helped with the extra material on the 20 and to make my waist look more defined to accentuate my hourglass figure.

Even I wouldn’t complain! I found that the front of the hotel we were staying at in York (Hedley House) was the perfect place to take these photos as it was simplistic yet making a statement, just like this beautiful velvet dress.

I don’t really have anything negative to say about this dress, which is a change for me, I know. The fit is a little generous, it washes really well, it’s incredibly comfy and if you’re the type, very easy to style up or down. As I was away for the weekend, I didn’t have the luxury of several changes of accessories, so I played it basic with my Newlook Duster Coat, Evans Leggings and Shoe Zone Shoes. I would absolutely love to see this dress in a couple other colours, ideally blue or maybe emerald green….ohhh.

What do you think to Pink Clove?

  • You look fantastic! I’ve had my eye on Pink Clove dresses for ages now – but I worry they would be more belt-like than elegant on my 5ft10 frame!
