Everyone’s tip is always to tell you to put some of your dye into your shampoo and conditioner to help with red hair, but when you use semi-permanents, it’s a little messy. Crazy Colours and Directions are incredibly pigmented, they stain everything, and using them every time I washed my hair would result in a permanently pink bathroom, and a very stained GG. Which means I prefer to use colour protect products instead and although I’ve definitely found a favourite (you can read about it here), I still love trying different things. Especially products that are actually red.
The Joico Colour Infused Red Shampoo and Conditioner are both a beautiful dark red colour. I love using this as a little top up on the side of my head, and so I add a little shampoo to my dry hair around 10 or 15 minutes before I wash the whole of it. It doesn’t dye it too much but it just adds a bit more colour to wear I need it most.
I found the shampoo to be amazing, it wasn’t exactly fantastic at stopping my colour from leaking but it wasn’t the worst I’ve ever tried either. It really gave my hair a good wash and made it look great afterwards. The conditioner was really lovely to use and overall I’m really enjoying them, I’m about halfway through now, maybe more as I don’t wash my hair as much as I used to. I have used Joico K-Pak Colour Therapy in the past and that was incredible at keeping my old colour in, I imagine it would be just as good now!
Speaking of which, I did get to try out the Joico Colour Therapy Luster Lock Instant Shine & Repair Treatment and it was amazing. It feels very thick to put on, and I have a lot of hair so I didn’t get tonnes of treatment out of this, but it did work really well. You use it as a pre-treatment to make your hair look even better!
The Shampoo and Conditioner look to be around £16.50, whereas the treatment is around £14. Joico is stocked at lots of different places, as well as certain Salons so definitely look around for the best deal.
