It always happens around this time of year that I start to panic when I don’t see pretty maxi dresses in stock at my favourite stores, thankfully, George has already got me covered. Maxi Dresses are my absolute Summer essentials and I basically live in them for months on end, until it becomes physically too cold. This year, I’ve already started my maxi dress collection with these two new beautiful additions, both rather revelling for a change.
Of course, I’m not going to walk around the city centre in a Lace Maxi Beach Kaftan (£12.00) but I couldn’t resist, how beautiful is it!? This is going to be perfect on a beach, next to a poor or simply a hot day as a rather sexy and gorgeous cover up. I sized up to a 22 in this as I thought I’d rather have it a little baggy and the fit is indeed, a tad too big but rather perfect for what I intended to wear it for. I’m attracted to anything lace and I can see myself wearing this a lot in the Summer, even if it’s just to air myself around the house during long working days. It has an elastic waist which makes your chest and waist really stand out, and I would definitely advise sticking to your size and ignoring what I’ve done. The maxi has 2 slits at either side making it even more revealing and perfect for hot Summer days to really cool you down. It’s probably my top Summer must have.
The Stripe Crochet Trim Maxi Dress at £14.00, also has the two side splits and a lace, see-through waistband. I asked for this one in a 20 as that seems to be my normal size now, and I did find it to be quite big in places, especially on the bust and waist. I don’t often have this problem, especially on my bust, so I would recommend trying this dress on in a couple sizes to get your perfect fit. The side splits come just before the knee on my 5’3 self, and the maxi isn’t too long at all, it actually only comes to above my ankles. Meaning on someone taller, it’d be more of a long midi.
You may have noticed a lace theme, so let’s carry this on with one of my favourite pieces from George, Lace Fit and Flare Prom Dress (that was £30.00, but is now £15.00). I spotted this a couple weeks ago when my friends on Twitter said how ‘me’ it was, and they were right. They’ll be a full post up on this beauty soon, as well as everything else, but if you’re after it right now, stick to your usual size as this is spot on! Another dress which is spot on in sizing and in with the monochrome trend is the Plus Size Check Swing Dress at £14.00. I’d definitely recommend adding a simple waist band to break it up and assecuate your curves.
What’s Summer without the essential Shrug Cardigans at £6.00? I always have a black and white one which I can pair with everything. Knowing I literally wanted these to just cover my arms in dresses and not to actually pull together or hide my dresses, I went for an 18 but they’re still rather big. They have a lot of stretch and are shockingly roomy, so if you’re after the same effect, I’d actually size down by 2!
I always consider polkadots as essentials for Summer too so I couldn’t resist this little Fuller Bust Dotty Bikini Top at £8.00, I got this in a 38G (when I should be a 38GG) but it’s pretty much perfect. A little tricky to get on with my achy back as it isn’t the usual fastener, but as soon as you work out where you’re going, it’s easy enough and very secure. I would love if the band was a little thicker though, as it’s not as flattering on my back fat. Finally, Summer calls for a Summery pair of PJs and I found the Daisy Print Pyjama Set at £10.00 absolutely adorable! Pretty much all my PJs come from Asda as they’re cheap and amazing quality!
I’m looking forward to sharing the outfits I make from my essentials with you, so keep a look out! What do you class as your essentials?
