After recently picking out my favourite dresses in Lovedrobe‘s current collection, they kindly sent me my favourite of all, the black lace overlay dress. It’s utterly beautiful and comes in a striking red too, but with my hair, red would have clashed far too much. It has taken me a little while to blog about it, but lucky enough for anyone interested, in that time the dress has actually come down in price to only £22.50! The dress was originally £45 and for the quality of the lace (because let’s face it, I know good lace when I’m in it!) it’s a pretty good price for the quality. The silky underlay is of the same high quality and the best part is that the dress does not require ironing, added bonus for sure. I love the sweet heart neck of the dress and length, but I did have a few issues….
In Lovedrobe I seem to be a between a 20 and 22, as 20s are too small for me in certain dresses, a 22 is too big for me. I had a lot of extra room on the top of my arms, which I cannot hide. Despite having a large bust, I still have a lot of room there too and it did make the top of the dress look a little unshapely. There’s also a fair bit on material under the waist belt but it’s easily containable and I find this a lot on dresses. With this dress, I think it’d be safer to stick with your size and hope for the best, ideally, go and try it on in a store. It has all the right elements with the overall design, quality of material and price, but the small design details for the arms, bust and waist are a little off.
Thankfully, it’s still an incredibly wearable dress that and I am considering adding shoulder pads to it. I decided to team this dress with my trusty Yours Clothing Belt, Evans leggings and Newlook bag for a pop of colour. (I never mention shoes as they’re always cheap and cheerful and most likely from Shoe Zone.) For £22.50 it’s definitely an essential dress to own, but if you can pull it off, I would definitely go for the red version! You’ve probably seen Lovedrobe a lot before as they’re stocked in all the major Plus Size Retailers but you can buy directly from their site too.
Have you tried Lovedrobe before? How did you find their sizing?
*Pr Sample, I love my lace.
