It really is exciting when a new Plus Size Brand comes along and makes waves into the community, I love nothing more than when brands get stuck in and get themselves out there. It means I get to see the collection on people of all shapes and sizes and in this case, I even get to try the range out for myself! Poly Grace is an interesting new company who caters across the board for sizes 16 to 32. To start with, that’s pretty impressive as more often than not, brands will only head up to mid 20s to test the waters, forgetting that’s there’s stylish plus size customers they’re missing out on.
Rather than having some lame and confusing tag line such as ‘for real women’, Polly Grace have the empowering ‘Be all that you can be’, and I really like that. It’s different, it’s open for everyone and it’s definitely positive. The first range from Polly Grace even has something for everyone, with short, midi and maxi dresses. Vests, cardigans, kimonos, leggings and more, they come from a background in Women’s fashion and it definitely shows.
I tried out two pieces from their collection for a Summer Challenge and I am beyond impressed with the design of the Clara Maxi and quality, definitely worth the £40 price tag (now on sale at £30). It’s described as a soft draped jersey with cross over detailing to make the bust look ‘flattered’ and it definitely makes it look amazing. When I first saw this dress on the model, I knew me and my boobs needed it as a black maxi with a good bust is a wardrobe essential! It has wide straps to cover your bra, it’s a reasonable bust height for modesty and even has a gathering empire line at the back so you look good from all angles. Now only available in sizes 16-22. In the photos I’m wearing a 20 and it’s a really lovely generous fit, I wouldn’t say I needed to size up or down, unless I wanted a super fitted dress. Impressive quality, sizing and design!
The kimono I really wanted only was in stock in sizes that wouldn’t have looked good on me, so instead I opted for the Layla Kimono in a size 18. I will admit, it’s not my favourite design at all, but against my hair, it does look rather good. I always go a size smaller with kimonos as I literally wear them on the side of the dress, to make sure my arms are warm/not burning in the sun and definitely not to cover up the dress with too much material. It’s a peacock feather print and a soft chiffon material which is perfect for the heat.
Polly Grace have also been kind enough to give my readers 20% off using ‘georgina20’! What do you have your eyes on? Head over to Polly Grace and enjoy!
