I’ve been so excited about this post and I’m beyond glad to finally share it. I’m becoming a bit of a travel expert now, although I’m still as nervous as ever about being late or forgetting something, travelling is now becoming so regular that I’m slowly finding ways to combat my nerves and constant worrying. Firstly, when travelling you have to have a place to stay, and after a change of venue last month for an event, it left Alfie and I in a bit of a frustrating situation, but thankfully an app called Hotel Tonight saved our weekend. We ended up staying in a gorgeous boutique hotel, courtesy of Hotel Tonight so we could try out their new app and I cannot recommend it enough for convenience.
We were instantly presented with a map of places to stay, and their prices which were already set up to a double room. It didn’t take us long search the map and use the super easily navigable app to read reviews, see photos and learn more about the hotels we were looking at. Hotel Tonight has some absolutely incredible bargains, I think the Leicester House Hotel we picked was actually 50% off and it was indeed a real treat to stay somewhere so pretty and posh after a long day in London. We ended up heading to Lush for bath bombs to use in the bath, which was actually next to the bed! A lot of people found it weird on my Twitter when I posted but I think it’s super relaxing, romantic and I love baths so I don’t care where it is, as long as I’m in it. I even had another bath before we left as an extra treat. Hotel Tonight is beyond easy and convenient to use, I’ll definitely be using it again.
Whilst travelling I’m so lucky to have my SOS Travel Kit from Emma Lomax, as it has come in handy on so many occasions. At only £30, it’s an essential bag to take with you on all your trips and be sure to top up when needed. It comes with a portable battery and iPhone charger, hair brush, tampon, sewing kit, tweezers, nail varnish remover pad, nail file, safety pin, hair tie, grips, earring backs, ear plugs, mirror, lip balm, deodorant wipe, hand wipe, plaster, toothbrush and toothpaste! I know, that’s a lot of things but it’s super compact and beyond handy. In case of emergencies you literally have everything. Most of the website is actually sold out, which speaks volumes on how amazing these kits are to have. Keep an eye out for when they restock!
But most importantly, essential and compact makeup. I love my makeup and I always travel with way too much, but Debenhams has now come together with an incredible bunch of products that you can completely make over yourself with, without carrying too much around. Check out their video page to see the products in action. To start you have to create a flawless complexion with MAC Studio Fix. To my absolute surprise, it actually has incredible coverage. I used this before and then after the Estee Lauder Brush-On Glow and found that it works and covers up a lot more if the MAC is being used on top. The concealer is super creamy but heavy, I wish the foundation from Estée Lauder was like this, and it means that the MAC powder foundation works so much better and sets it perfectly.
For the cheeks YSL’s Kiss & Blush, it’s an odd colour for cheeks than what I would usually use but it works really well, especially when I apply it a little harshly and create a subtle contour. For the eyes it’s bareMinerals Lasting Line Long-Wearing Eyeliner which I can wear on my waterline or try and smudge it as eyeshadow, before applying Roller Lash by Benefit mascara. I know, I know, benefit? I didn’t choose the products for this, but it is actually a decent mascara. Finally finishing with the Melted by Too Faced, which I’ve wanted to try out for months now. They’re beyond creamy but so intense with their colour. They stain the lips but leave a high shine finish whilst lasting for hours on end.
