Some products just aren’t good and I’m not afraid to tell you that. However, a full feature on a terrible product makes for seriously boring, and lacking content and so, I bring to you a hot or not in the beauty world! Well, the part of the beauty world that I’ve recently been sent to review.
Lush is always hot in my books and their new Lava Lamp bath bomb is SO MUCH FUN. It contains cocoa butter and extra virgin olive oil in little circles which create an oil like texture in your bath and you get all the moisturising properties of it too. I can’t find the Salted Caramel Soap on their website? But it smells so dreamy and edible.
I always like products from Antipodes and I’m super happy to have something more suited for my oily skin. Everyone wants to send me anti-ageing products and oils and my skin hates them. I am oily, spots and blackheads. I need more like this and I’m rather impressed with it.
Yes, yes, yes! Anything to do with massage and I’m a fan already but Prismologie is a brand that has really impressed me after first trying them out (you can read that HERE). It literally melts on body temperature so heating it with the candle is absolute heaven. It has mango butter, coconut oil and soybean oil making it super moisturising and it smells beautiful.
All That Jazz Nail Varnishes – £9.98
For some reason I couldn’t focus my camera to get a photo of these on which is annoying, but with 2 coats my nails were perfectly sparkly and very cute looking. I always wear darker colours or reds on my nails so the shades they sent over were great. Although they’re a little thin and it does take a least 2 coats, I’m really enjoying them. After finding out their price I’m a little put off and so these have moved down lower on my hot list. Still hot, just not scorching.
SoundSOUL Essential Oil Diffuser – £19.99
I really really love aromatherapy oils and diffusers. This one not only matches my office as it’s white, but it’s so compact and a feature in itself. Not only does it look great but it’s super clever too and shuts itself off when it runs out of water! We have diffusers, incense and pretty much anything relaxing on all the time now, there’s nearly one in every room on the house and we love them. This is definitely my favourite now and I love that it comes with a 12 month warranty.
Lipcote – £3.99
Seriously, £3.99!? I was expecting it to be a lot more? It’s an award-winning lipstick sealer and after using it for the first time, I knew why. A 3 course meal, lots of wine and a long trip back and there was less than my basic wear and tear. I am seriously impressed and since I’ve worn it every single time I’ve worn lipstick. You’re meant to apply lipstick, blot, apply again, blot and then coat your lips in Lipcote and do not put them together until it dries. It tingled a little bit but I cannot recommend it enough.
NOT HOT, BUT NOT NOT HOT
So this is kinda the middle ground, it hasn’t blown my mind or been something I’ve constantly reached for but they’re not completely shit either.
Luna Play – £29
Following on from the success of the Luna cleansing devices, there’s now a super mini version called the Luna Play! The big devices have a 2 year warranty and a 10 year quality guarantee, but the mini luna only lasts for 100 uses. It’s meant to be great for travelling and if you want to try it out before you buy the big version, perhaps? You can’t charge it so after 100 uses you have to throw it out. I don’t know, I’m not mad on the idea of it. It seems like a waste? If you really want a cleansing device like this, you may as well just invest than throw away your money, literally.
As always the quality of Tweezerman is incredible, the best Tweezers and now only tweezers I own. The New Mini Contour Kit (£34.95) is absolutely fabulous, I really enjoy the compact, smaller brushes and having a new beauty blender.
I love that the Bird of a Feather mini slant Tweezers (£14.95) come in a little handy travel case too. These are definitely coming on my Summer trips with me!
I also received the Moroccan Oasis Slant Tweezer (£22.95), there’s nothing new or different about them, they’re just impeccable quality as always and in a really fun pattern.
The Curl’n’Go eyelash Curler really impressed me when I tried it out on Alfie, but they’re really awkward to use on yourself when you’re used to regular lash curlers. The bulk gets in the way and I feel like I can’t get close enough. But on other people they’re incredible! At £19 they’re an investment but definitely worth a go for ease of travelling.
I didn’t like the first type of hair remover from Tweezerman that I tried and I unfortunately don’t like this one either. I just don’t think they work well at all and I really don’t get on with them. The Tweezerman Easy Finish Facial Hair Removal Tool at £15 is a new, sleeker design than the other but I still don’t think it works effectively.
I love trying out new brushes but not every brush impresses me. The Blank Canvas Cosmetics F22 Brush at £10.85 is fantastic, I really love it and I’ve been using it constantly. But the F03 Large Duo Fibre Stipple Brush at £11.41 didn’t do much for me at all, but I don’t love stipple brushes at all and I never use them.
Jolen Cream Bleach – £11
I don’t really need to bleach a lot but I have really loved having this around just in case. It’s super easy to mix together, the packaging and instructions are really clear as with bleach on your face, you can’t really afford to do it wrong. This is in the middle section as I don’t love bleaching, I’d rather just shave (yeah, I shave my face for makeup) so I haven’t learnt to fully love it, but I appreciate it! I’ll definitely be using this come Halloween time on my eyebrows though.
The piece of cloth that is meant to remove your entire makeup with just water. It’s a huge no from me, but not because it doesn’t work. It does work, it works even on my drag queen heavy makeup but you have to seriously drag your skin and use a lot of water. One use and you need to wash it completely in a washing machine as tap water won’t get eye makeup off? It’s a weird little thing. I demonstrated it for my snapchat followers (username georginagrogan) and they all agreed that dragging my face that much was not good for me at all, who wants premature wrinkles? For that reason, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Not even if you’re travelling as you need A LOT of water and still your face isn’t completely clean. The price tag of £16.99 is making me weep.
So, what do you think?
