I am absolutely kicking myself that I didn’t stumble across Dolly & Dotty vintage inspired dresses sooner, they’re absolutely beautiful and I couldn’t wait to wear my Lillian Vintage Dress with Sleeves in Black Floral (34.99.) I thankfully had the perfect place to wear it too as Alfie and I headed off to York for a couple days for our anniversary and to work with some incredible brands and branches whilst we were there, including Bettys, which I thought would be the perfect place to road test this dress! Don’t worry though, you’ll see more of York coming up really soon in a rundown of my top places to visit.
The Lillian is a swing dress with incredibly perfect sleeves, cute bow on the bust, a collar (which I tucked away) and a full circle skirt. It hung beautifully and was such a perfect length on my 5’3 figure that I ditched the leggings and just wore my Chaffree. The fitted waist was a little too long for how short I am but I just tucked it away underneath a belt and it didn’t bother me at all. Not only did this dress give me a killer figure, but it has an incredible pattern which means I stood out all day.
I didn’t have to size up at all which I normally do have to with vintage inspired dresses so this was quite the surprise, but makes it so easier knowing straight away that the brand is true to size and there’s no messing around. Obviously I’d have to try more (and believe me, I definitely will!) to confirm this for definite but it’s a good start. I was just blown away by how perfect the material (95% cotton, 5% elastane) and fit was for a mildly cold day, I even had a couple people tell me in the street how much they loved it!
I really didn’t need to make such an effort with this dress as it really was the focal point, so I just added my Lindybop Belt, a Newlook Coat and my Crocs – because I’m still to find a way to make my back pain fashionable.
Dolly & Dotty is definitely a brand that I want to try more of, reasonable priced and such beautiful, eye-capturing dresses. It’s a big yes from me!
