Degustabox – April 2014.

After scrolling through Facebook one night, I came across a post from Degustabox. Confused as to what it was, I look further and found that it’s pretty much like a monthly beauty box, but with food. I was obviously intrigued, who wouldn’t be!? I’ve never been a fussy eater and I love trying new things, so they thought of trying different brands and new products was really exciting. I seemed to have picked a really good month to gain an interested as April’s Degustabox was such a wide variation of food that I’m still getting through it weeks on.

Aprils Degustabox contained:
Crabbie’s Ginger Beer
Lindt Lindor chocolate bar
Cawston Press Rhubarb drink
Clearspring Miso Soup On The Go
Go Splash Dilute
Keogh’s Atlantic Salt & Irish Cider Vinegar Crisps
Mcvitie’s Jaffa Cakes Mini Rolls
DR Oetker Milk Chocolate
DR Oetker Dark Chocolate
Mornflake Superfast Posts
All together they retail at just around £20 depending on where you buy them from, however Degustabox’s are £12.95 per month, and even have offers on where you can try out your first box for half price, making it a massive saving!
Thumbs Up
Crabbie’s Ginger Beer
I’ve only just started to become a fan of beer, but even then I mean the fruity flavoured kind, so I thought this would be right up my street. It’s light and refreshing which would be delightful on a Summer’s day as it tastes practically of fizzy pop with an edge.
Clearspring Miso Soup On The Go
Absolutely love Soup but I hate Cup-a-soups as they always taste disappointingly. I was pleasantly surprised by this one, and I love the little packets.
Probably my favourite thing in the entire box is this little Go Splash Sugar Free Water Flavouring. I really like the concept of it being so handbag size so you could literally get a glass of water from anywhere, and jazz it up with one squeeze. I got the flavour blackcurrant and I’m shocked I have any left as I couldn’t stop using it. I think it’s really innovative and suitable for basically anyone and everyone to use it. Fantastic for those wanting to cut the sugar and calories out too!
Mcvitie’s Jaffa Cakes Mini Rolls
A firm favourite from the rest of the Grogan household, I barely saw these! Mini Jaffa rolls but in exciting new flavours that you can now put in the fridge to enjoy as a hot day’s snack!
Lindt Lindor Chocolate Bar
I’ve always wondered why people would rave about Lindor so much, and what the fuss was about. Well I certainly know now. This is the ultimate melt in your mouth chocolate. It’s definitely something that I will have to start buying!
DR Oetker Milk/Dark Chocolate
Delicious, creamy and full of flavour. Everything you would want from cooking chocolate.
Thumbs Down
Cawston Press Rhubarb Drink
I really wasn’t a fan of this, however, I love the idea behind it. Preservative, additives and artificial sweeteners are completely gone, leaving behind fizzy flavoured water. Brilliant, as long as you like the flavour!

I’ll avoid ranting on this one as it really was the most terrible tasting pot with a good idea behind it. It’s basically Granola which when you add enough water up to the line, it turns into milk around it. However, this is far from the case, it turns watery and tasteless, and quite painful to eat. Also the pot is barely 1/4 full which is apparently 1 portion, maybe for an infant, I just thought it was wasteful packaging and really disappointing.

As I said, I’m not a fussy eater so 2/10 things definitely makes this an overall thumbs up from me. If you are wanting to experiment and try different things, £12.95 isn’t a lot at all. They’re very varied boxes and you never know what treasure you’ll find, or ideas that will spark from one.
