Normally I try and get to at least one event a month, otherwise I end up missing my friends I’ve made through blogging too much. This month, I was very fortunate to be able to attend a Christmas Catchup Meal in Leeds and the Plus Size Blogger event in Meadowhall. Due to terrible planning, I ended up having the same dress on for both events, so I will very clearly split them to avoid confusion. The lovely AX Curve dress is coming up on a post of its own soon though….
Christmas Meal at Cabana Leeds
This was basically just a chance for us to get together and catch up, we also did a lovely secret santa that worked out very well, and I took a bunch of clothes for them all. The best parts of clear outs are definitely that very organised feeling afterwards. The meal was arranged by the beautiful Faith and Cabana were generous enough to give us our first round free and a free desert each!
I have mainly just pictures from this event as it was spent laughing and me ranting after a miserable week. Faith, Lucy, Yuna, Carrie, Ellie and Jenna were all lovely and did an amazing job at cheering me up though. Pretty easy to do when you’re surrounded by people you have so much in common with, it also helped that our meal involved a little dancing performance from Stormtroopers!
As you can see from the photos, we had an amazing time together and it’s always a treat visiting Leeds, literally one of my favourite places ever.
Plus Size Blogger Meetup – Sheffield Meadowhall
A couple of months ago, the wonderful Leah from Leah XL, Style XL and Model XL (you get the drift) decided to organise a Christmas Plus Size Blogger meetup in Sheffield! After working there for just over 2 years, I am keen to stay away, however Meadowhall has returned to being a fun place to visit and this meetup definitely proved it. Even though I live literally ten minutes away from Meadowhall, Lucy still very kindly decided to come pick me up, which ensured I was actually on time for once. Whilst a hilarious wait for everyone to turn up, I got the chance to play with Lucy’s fancy camera attachment. It’s basically some design clearly made by witchcraft that attached a camera lens to your phone. Of course when noticing that it could be used just by holding it, I had to take a selfie and capture myself laughing at my vainness.
The lovely Leah soon arrived and presented us all with our Goodie Bags, the actual bags were of a design of Sheffield and are by a company called Talented. I was rather shocked to actually like the bags, as I’m not the biggest fan of Sheffield, however, they’re beyond cute and Talented have an amazing range! Inside the Goodie Bags there was an array of products across the board, such as….
Make Up Revolution Hard Day Palette and the Pro Cleanse Makeup Removing Cleaning Water.
Charnos Tights Plus Size Tights
Passion for Natural Gel and Body Lotion
Crabtree & Evelyn: Hand Cream
Benefit Makerupper Card for free make up session……no comment.
Boomf Personlised Marshmallow – They’ve even gave us a 10% Off code for our readers! BOOMF-ME-HAPPY
Balance Cosmetics Eye Cream
Apples & Pears Clothing £5 off voucher
Through my recent travels into Simply Be at Meadowhall lately, I have been talking to the wonderful staff who then decided they wanted to do something special for they meetup. They got in touch with Head Office and we ended up having a 10% off discount, bubbly/orange juice, goodie bags and VIP Changing Rooms! Myself and the other bloggers were blown away by this kind act and how generous Simply Be actually were. Inside our Goodie Bags we received a huge Simply Be perfume, Tanya Burr Nail Varnish, Lip Balm, Nail Vile, and a compact mirror and brush.
Simply Be in Meadowhall is only a pop up store, however, if it does not become permanent I will protest. The shop is beautiful and the staff are literally the nicest in the entire of Meadowhall!
Whilst at Simply Be we had such a giggle trying on all the clothes and just getting to catch up, or even meet each other for the first time. It’s sometimes difficult to properly talk to people at big events, which is why fun days out like this are always lovely.
Due to the event being on a busy Saturday near Christmas, I was laughed at when trying to book a table to help Leah out. This meant that we did have to split up for lunch, but that wasn’t a problem at all. Lucy and I already had our hearts set on a full on meal, and it didn’t take us long to find dinner friends. Sara, Siobhan, Lucy and I decided to fill the entire table with food and cocktails and eat until our hearts were content.
December has been a wonderful month and I hope to attend a lot more events next year!
Have you been to any events this month?
