Recently Alfie and I visited Browns Sheffield Brasserie & Bar to try out their new menu. We’ve been in before on the odd day night but only for a couple cocktails, which is why I didn’t realise that the restaurant was mainly upstairs and up a massive flight of stairs that I couldn’t get up. This wasn’t an issue at all and they opened up their downstairs part (which was in my limit of stairs!) just for us. It doesn’t seem like much but when you’re not abled and restaurants make no big deal out of accommodating for you, it really does just make you feel more relaxed straight away. I find myself constantly worrying about venues I’m invited to now after a few incidents but I was so impressed with how quickly Browns accommodated me without fuss.
Browns is a very relaxed and sophisticated looking venue, with an incredible menu and great drinks selection. We enjoyed a three course meal and of course, a bottle of Pinot Grigio before ending on a couple cheeky cocktails. To start with we ordered a Prawn Cocktail and Devon crab on toast, my prawn cocktail was a little too strong with the mustard but thankfully Alfie swapped with me so we both ended up very happy.
For our mains we both decided to have something that we usually wouldn’t order. Alfie is obsessed with burgers so I insisted that he finally ordered something else! We could go to the fanciest place ever and he’d chose a burger if it was on the menu, he’s not normal. Instead he went for the Steak & Guinness pie which he said was delicious and he really enjoyed it. I decided to be a little fancier and go for the Roasted lamb rump which was absolutely gorgeous. Our wonderful server recommend asparagus for a side and he was totally right, it really was the perfect side.
We were both really impressed with the choices on the menu and the quality of the food, we would easily go back! Especially as they have creme brulee and the best and most chocolatey chocolate cake I’ve ever had. My mum describes most chocolate cakes as ‘fake chocolate’ but this one was so tasty and partially sickly, which isn’t a bad thing at all! The service, ambiance, food, and drinks were all brilliant and we really enjoyed ourselves. After a quick cocktail for the road, including a very strong espresso martini, we were off with very full tummies!
Thanks for having us Browns Sheffield!
We were invited along for a free meal but all words and opinions are my own.
