Even though Birchbox teamed up with InStyle this month I’m really not impressed.
Just like last month there are two expensive creams that I have never heard of before, and for their price are very unimpressive. In the SkinLife cream the liquid seems to separate from the oils inside making it look very unappealing before you put it onto your face. It is very refreshing but wouldn’t call it ‘light’ as it has quite a tacky feeling. I’ve used it everyday since the Birchbox arrived as I wanted to make sure I had a full understanding of the product. It also just smells like a regular expensive face cream, nothing spectacular.
I definitely would not pay £35 for it.
Next up is the hair oil, I’m currently using one from Joico which I love, but I did give this a try. It smells a little bit like a generic soap to me and I didn’t feel that it added much shine at all, but I did like the texture. But at £22.50 it’s definitely not something I would go out and buy, my Joico oil was only £10!
Next up is a primer! I’ve been wanting to try more as I still haven’t found the one that’s right for me. After trying this, I STILL haven’t found it. It has a very cooling effect on the face which I like and sinks in relatively fasts, but I definitely haven’t found that my makeup is lasting longer, in fact I believe it’s making my skin become oilier faster than usual. Big no no for me! It’s £30 for a full size one and yet again, I wouldn’t pay that.
When I saw other reviews of the Birchbox before mine came, I was really hoping I had the red one. This colour is a very light pink, with a sticky, glossy look and touch. It stinks of burning plastic and it makes any lipstick put on top of it, fade away and come off within an hour.
My mum and I used to order Molton Brown all the time back when it was on QVC only, now everything seems to be in department stores (or in this case, have its own store!) I’m not a fan on this as it smells like an old Givenchy perfume my Mum would wear, but obviously she likes the smell of it, so I’m going to pop it in with the rest of the things for her birthday! (Can’t wait to show you all!)
As you can see altogether I wasn’t very impressed at all. The little gel eye mask that came with it is nice, but it’s tiny for £10! I would have expected one of those gel masks that cover your entire face. I feel like a little bit of a scrooge with money, but if it’s expensive I believe it should be because it’s of a high quality!
What do you all think?
