I was actually really excited to go to the Benefit Cosmetics brow event as there’s just SO many new products and shades that I couldn’t wait to play but my body said no. Chronic pain and blogging is incredibly difficult when there’s so many events I want to go to but just physically can’t in the end. That’s why I’m so grateful to brands who still invite you to play with the products that you would have got from going to the event. I love the understanding that sometimes things come up, or bodies stop working in my case, ha!
Not long after the event the beautifully boxed new products arrived and they definitely wowed. This is how you present new products! Technically there’s 12 new products, 9 new actual makeup products and 3 tools. I was sent four products and I’d love to say that they’re all amazing, but I’m not here to please brands, I’m here to tell you whether or not a product is good and unfortunately, not all of these are.
Ka-BROW! Eyebrow Cream-gel Colour £18.50 3.0 g
Cream-gel brow colour with brush
They say: ‘Brush on rich, buildable colour! This all-in-one eyebrow cream-gel easily fills, sculpts and defines brows. Plus the built-in hard-angled brush magically converts to a full-size brush for precise control & effortless application!’
I found the colour I was sent to be spot on in ‘5’, as I apply my eyebrows quite dark because I like that look. As you can see from the first swatch below and on my eyebrow, it’s quite a powdery, dry formula which glides on and the brush inside the lid is actually great to get a perfect finish. With the primer (mentioned below) this product is dry, difficult and looks ridiculously messy.
Gimme Brow Volumizing Eyebrow Gel £18.50 3.0 g
Brow-volumising fibre gel
They say: ‘Cult-favorite gimme brow tinted eyebrow gel contains tiny microfibers that adhere to skin & hairs, creating natural-looking fullness and definition. The custom, tiny tapered brush blends easily while the precision tip shapes hairs into place. Now available in 3 shades, including a NEW MEDIUM SHADE, so every girl can brush on fuller-looking brows.’
I LOVE IT. I’m seriously so fricking impressed with this. It’s all I used on holiday, it’s what I used for doctors/hospital appointments because it looks like I have full on natural brows. You need to have really well groomed eyebrows for it to work as it’ll attach onto any little, fine hairs and make them more visible which isn’t always what you want. I really don’t have anything but good things to say about this product, I’ll be repurchasing when I’ve finished it!
10/10 from me.
Swatches Ka-BROW! Eyebrow Cream-gel Colour, thick and thin. Goof Proof Eyebrow Pencil thick and thin before the end wore down.
BROWVO! Conditioning Eyebrow Primer £21.50 3.0 mL
Nutrient-rich primer for fuller-looking brows
They say? ‘It’s a brow RE-appearing act with this nutrient-rich eyebrow primer! Worn alone BROWVO! conditions & smooths brows. Worn as a primer it enhances & extends the wear of other brow products. This conditioning formula contains keratin & soy proteins known to help brows look THICKER, HEALTHIER & FULLER.’
Don’t put it on before you do your brows as they’ll go crispy and make it incredibly hard to apply anything else. Not only that but they’ll look caked on and dry, not at all what anyone wants. I really don’t rate this at all. A primer should enhance your look, not ruin it from the get-go. Obviously it might work differently for some, but as you can see below, it’s a no.
Goof Proof Eyebrow Pencil £18.50 0.34 g
Super easy brow-filling & shaping pencil
They say: ‘Presto…everyone’s an expert with this super easy filling & shaping eyebrow pencil. It features a custom, non-sharpen “goof-proof” tip, soft colour and a glide-on formula for easy & fast brow filling.’
It needs to be sharpened otherwise you can’t actually draw your brow on decently at all, in fact you’d have better look using a finger. It goes everywhere with a blunt end, you can’t feather out, you can’t point blank fill them in, you can’t draw individual strokes making this product absolutely pointless as soon as the end wears down.
In short, I really only love Gimme Brow but then I SERIOUSLY love it.
Overall I’m impressed with the packaging, the overall relaunch looks fantastic and the colour range is something that was seriously needed. However, not all of the products are good, but that’s the same with any brand. If you’re going to try something, natural brows or if you favour drawn on like mine, try Gimme Brow first.
